I cannot overly state how amazing this book was. I read the entire series for two days. It was UNPUTDOWNABLE! . Once i finished the first book, i am itching for the second until before i knew it, i was up till 5 in the morning. THANK GOODNESS IT'S SUMMER or I'll be sleeping in my desk if this was a school day.

Ok, i should warn you that my opinion is been extremely a...more

I do talk about my series OCD sometimes, and here I made a mistake, that in the end turned out great. I thought this was one of those normal PNR series, you know, a new couple in each. Since I did check the previous books, or perhaps I dreamed it. Anyway, my point is that this was book 4, and all the previous books were all about Sarah. Still it worked, cos of the beginning I thought this was her "book 1", and first when something was mentioned that happened 2 weeks ago I thought, huh..that woul...more

Well, I sat and read this one cover to cover yesterday. The fourth book in the Immortality Bites series, I had none of the previous books but that had no impact on the enjoyment of this one. Stakes and Stilettos is a good story, though a bit choppy in spots and a the plot was more predictable than I'd like. The heroine, a 10 week 'old' fledgling vampire, Sarah Dearly, who seems to be a magnet for trouble. All she wants is a 'normal' life as a vampire. Her 'boyfriend' is a 700 year old vampire th...more

It took me about 100 pages to get into the book, maybe because I haven’t read the earlier books in the series so I still had to get a feel for the characters. Sarah struck me as sort of a ditz but Thierry definitely strikes me as one of those guys you have to sigh and stare at thnking they are hot but you can never get near them. Once the story did draw me in I could not wait until the end only to find it was a cliff hanger. You have to read the next book to find out what happens so of course I...more

Inhalt: Das 4.

OK after reading the 4th book in this series I finally get it …. The author likes to write romance without sex scenes. Which really kind of irked me, cuz I was use to the writing styles of Katie Macalister and Alexander Ivy. Moving past that, I have to say I really enjoyed reading about the trials and tribulations of one Sarah Dearly, vampire. Yes, I’ll be quite happy when Sarah and Thierry get their HEA and the bad guys get staked; in the 5th and final book in the series…. Tall dark and fangsom...more

I don't usually read a series out of order, but I happened to have bought this one randomly and decided to give it a try. It's pretty good, if you like chick lit contemporary fantasy/paranormal romance. I'm talking to you - Queen Betsy fans. If you don't like the everyday girl chick lit vibe+vampires, you will hate this. I'm so-so on it. The writing is fine, but I'm not in love with the characters or story, so I stopped on page 105. I just checked, and my guess of who the bad guy will turn out t...more

To be fair, I didn't realize this was a series when I began reading "Stakes and Stilettos" so I didn't understand the constant references to things that had happened in the last 10 weeks of the often-in-danger fledgling vampire, Sarah's life. Also, paranormal slap-stick isn't my cup of tea.

That being said, this book failed to hold my interest. I found the characters a bit flat, so even though the writing was solid, I wasn't intrigued to see if the heroine would survive her many, many perils, or...more

Every one of the Immortality Bites series has been a winner for me. I find the humor biting and the writing so clever. They are just super fun books to read when in the mood for something light but not roll-the-eyes stupid. After finishing Stakes and Stilettos, I am dreading that there is only one more Sarah Dearly installment left. I look forward to reading it, however, at the same time, I will miss her. She's a fantastic character, as are her friends and, of course, Thierry. Wish Ms Rowen woul...more

Another great installment in the "Immortality Bites" series! This book is pretty much exactly what I expected from the series. It was easily as good as the first book, better than the second, but still ranks a little lower than the third. There were several plot twists that really threw me off and kept mt interested in reading more, so that was a plus! That last three chapters (technically the last two plus the interlude) were amazing! they were so fast-paced and so much happened all at once! I...more

Sarah is just after a normal life, which is hard when one is a vampire. She goes for a job interview and gets staked. She goes to her school reunion and gets cursed. She wants a normal relationship with her boyfriend but he has been married for the last 600 years. Some days you can't get a break and for Sarah Dearly life is going to go downhill from there.

This is the fourth book in the series and is quite enjoyable. Her best friend George has a lot of good lines but the romance between her and T...more

This is the second book in the series. I started reading it a bit cattywumpus. But it is a good book. Sarah our heroine is trying to put together some sembelance of a normal life. She's your average every day former actress turned unwilling vampire. And well things just dont' go well for her. People are after her for being the slayer of slayers, because she's had the blood of two master vampires, and well apparently she's cute. That last part doesn't bother her so much. However she does wish he...more

Toronto's favorite vampire, Sarah Dearly, is back in Rowan's 4th installment of the Immortality Bites series. Things are looking up when the jobless vamp has an interview for a great opportunity, and her married boyfriend is seeking an annulment from his estranged wife. However, her life quickly takes a downward turn when she is hexed by an old classmate (and witch) at her high school reunion and she is forced to embrace her inner vampire.

Smart and witty-I laughed out loud throughout this book a...more

Gare au méchant, la slayer of the slayer va lui botter les fesses j'...more

With this entry in the series, we're back with Sarah Dearly and her master vampire boyfriend, Thierry (and in this one I finally found out how to prounounce his name properly when he enuciated it for someone who said it wrong - note to author, you could have done that in the first book!).

As we know from Sarah's previous book, she has been looking forward to going to her home town to attend her high school reunion. But at the reunion, she is confronted by a former classmate, who she doesn't reme...more

I will have to say that this one was kind of lagging for me a little bit. In truth, I think it was just missing Quinn a little bit. haha.

About halfway through, I was back to giggling to myself every few moments and all was right with the world.

"'Tell me something I don't know. But even with our issues we're still together. Even though everybody and their pet rabbit thinks we're doomed."

He raised a dark eyebrow. 'Who thinks we're doomed?'

'Everybody. And their pet rabbit.'

Michelle Rowen brings Sarah Dearly back for her fourth book in the Immortality Bites series. Dearly has recently been turned into a vampire and has just started adjusting to things when she stumbles into a witch, Stacy, with a grudge. Stacy decides to make Dearly's adjustment period a bit more complex by placing a curse on her that turns her into a bloodthirsty nightwalker instead of the sweet vampire that was able to drink from the carton rather than the neck. Sarah has to race against the cloc...more

Stakes & Stilettos is a paranormal romance. The heroine, Sarah Dearly, is a new vamp on the block with an honor of having drunk the blood of not one but two master vampires. She really wants to be a normal vampire girl, lead a love-filled life with her 600-year-old boyfriend Thierry, find a job that’ll allow her to be financially independent, and besides the fact that she is now immortal, be the cute, happy-go-lucky girl she’s always been. You know, it’s pretty much the regular, realistic dr...more

Sarah Dearly has just joined the dark side as a nightwalker. It happened two and a half months ago. She went on a blind date. Yes, you guessed it a dreaded blind date story. Her date decided to take a bite. Let me tell you it was anything but …dear-ling. Ok, so groan for the bad pun.

All Sarah wants to do is live a normal life but how normal can one really live as a vampire. Sarah goes for an interview, sure she is a shoo in, only to be staked but the interviewers. Talk about willing to sacrific...more

I totally enjoyed this book, and I loved the ending leading into the new book. I haven't read this series in a few years and this is book 4, and I forgot how much I hate Barry!! Veronique has jumped up on my "hate" list, she is so selfish its ridiculous, and Thierry needs to just kill her!!

In conclusion Stakes & Stilettos has made Sarah even more interesting than the first 2 books. It's a fun read!!

Fangtastically fun ! Sarah and Thierry are moving along well in their relationship until her High School reunion. She was not as nice as she thought she was and gets a reminder in the worst way. Thierry has some remembrances of his own as the mysterious Red Devil comes to town.
George had one of my favorite lines "Look at you, all Rocky Horror Picture Ho."
It is fun, romantic, mysterious and heart breaking/warming.

A cute quick read. As with the other books in this series, editing would have been nice. I hate reading a sentence repeatedly only to find that it makes no sense. I almost gave up on the series during the second book, but carried on and am glad I did. I'm sure I won't reread this series (not good enough), but I will finish the series, I think.

Honestly, I'm thinking ms Rowen should have ended this story after book one. This one (number 4) has a VERY transparent plot and close to no giggles or laughs. The wit was what attracted me to the books in the first place so without them... they don't have much bite. Pun intended. Besides, Thierry bores the bejeezus out of me. SUCH a stick in the mud!
