Thanksgiving on Thursday is a work of historical fiction intended for primary readers. Jack and Annie travel back to 1621, the year when pilgrims and Indians celebrated the first Thanksgiving in the New Plymouth Colony. They meet early settlers such as Governor Bradford and Captain Standish, and Squanto, a Wampanoag Indian. When they return home they realize how much they are thankful for.

This book I too only read in full for the first time this year. I find it funny, but at the same time don't really care. I have missed a lot of Magic Tree House from my time growing up to myself now. Things have changed, events have happened, and my life had shifted away from Magic Tree House, but I'm back now and happy to be reading it again. I have missed it.

There's this girl named Annie and she's 7 or 8 years old, but I can't remember. And there's her brother Jack, I think he's 8. And they're supposed to go to their Grandma's, but they have to go somewhere in a magic tree house first.
And they're in the time of the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving.
The Pilgrims had a terrible winter, but they stored lots of food for Thanksgiving.
And they had to help make food. And there's this Pilgrim girl named ...more

This was the first Magic Tree House book I've read, though my son's teacher has read a few in class and I enjoyed it as did my son. It was better than I expected. It taught about the first thanksgiving...well actually it was mostly things that could have happened at the first thanksgiving. A bit of historical fiction in the book. So it taught a little bit of what happened and the foods they ate and some notable characters as well from time. Enjoyable.

Thanksgiving on Thursday by Mary Pope Osborne was the book that killed my son's interest in the series. It seems that every series feels the temptation to do an issue, book or episode for the major holidays. This book sends Jack and Annie to experience a thanksgiving feast with the Pilgrims.

The magic tree house series are great for allowing kids and adult to use their imgination during a history class. I pick this book because Thanksgiving is near and I have just finish studying about the first Thanksgiving. It is a good refresher book for a test or a paper. I know it is just a kid book but it gives you an idea of what happen during that time period.
We really enjoy reading this series and this book was a good way to introduce the history of the Pilgrims and the Mayflower. It was the first time I told our girls about being related to someone on the Mayflower, so that was an added bonus. I love how these stories are the catalysts for starting conversations and lead to research in the library (with the research guides and other books and videos, too). We are eager to read more!
Jack and Annie found a note and wondered what kind of magic they had to find. They found it on the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims. They met Priscilla and Squanto and that's when they found the magic. My favorite part was when they met Priscilla. - Auryn 7yo
My little brother had this book, and I found it appropriate to read now as we approach Thanksgiving. Jack and Annie have Thanksgiving with the pilgrims and indians. Students will like the series because it is informational, yet entertaining.
I'm obviously too old for these books, [I'm 16] but they're like a guilty pleasure. I'm rating it three stars because they are basic and repetitive. However, they're great books for little kids!

Another Magic Tree House book and this one is all about Thanksgiving! We timed this one perfectly and started it two days before Thanksgiving and finished it the day after. As always, the books are fun and scattered with true information!
Great book to read around Thanksgiving. Very informative about Thanksgiving and cute story line.
Jack and Annie are sent back with the Pilgrims and befriend Priscilla.

My 3rd grader read this to me along with the non-fiction companion, Pilgrims, also by Mary Pope Osborne. Educational and entertaining. Great for early readers
They had Thanksgiving with the pilgrims and they helped them and they got corn seeds from Squanto. They took off their shoes and catched eels with their feet.
To me this is an OK book. It is very interesting but really boring. I did learn a few things about pilgrims in this book, but it did not get my attraction.
I absolutely LOVED the series when I was a kid, and I still do! I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy / adventure books!! :)
Jack and Annie share the very first thanksgiving with the pilgrim fathers and the local tribe, including Squanto.
About when Jack and Annie are whisked back in time to the eve of the first Thanksgiving in the magic tree house.
The Magic Treehouse books are great for young readers to read independently. After they're done with one, they usually can't wait for the next.

Still reading along with my nephew. This time they meet Priscilla Mullins and John Alden. The first Thanksgiving was actually a celebration of a shared harvest with the Indians and the Pilgrams. The Indians were kind enough to teach the Pilgrims how to plant corn and pumpkins and how to catch the clams. The majority of the Pilgrims died during the first winter after landing, so this truly was a celebration.

It was interesting to read another perspective on the first Thanksgiving.
Jack and Annie travel back to pilgrim times to share in the first Thanksgiving.
I really thought this was sad because they lost so much family.
They had to help with the Thanksgiving festival.
