This is my birthday review. CAKE!!!
the first I lived in new york I really wanted a coldstone cake. Those are super expensive if you didn't already know. I was in college and no one had money so my friends agreed if I bought it they would help me pay for it. A girl I knew a little heard about this and said it was stupid for me to buy my own birthday cake and she bought it for me. In a nutshell: This is a wonderful book for anyone who wants to make a fun cake. The instructions are very helpful and include detailed photos of each step. I've picked up this book for fun and the book cover was quite cute and enticing. Mind you, my excuse was that I wanted to get it for my mum but this ended up as one of the family favorite book to grab. Let's see... how can I play this review about. It's filled with exploding colors of cake decorations and ideas, most of it is surprising easy enough (with practice) to do with kids and as a beginner book.

This is a dazzling book with fantastic, creative ideas for cakes, mini cakes, cupcakes & cookies. The book begins with basic information about cakes including recipes and techniques. Then there are chapters for each type of pastry. Everything in here is gorgeous and seems to be described in great detail in order to make it easier for novices. The photographs are beautiful! Confetti Cakes for Kids by Elisa Strauss is a beautiful book. The beginning of the book focuses on tools, techniques, baking terms and lots of great tips. Following that, you'll find recipes for cakes, cookies, brownies and icings. The last part of the book is filled with gorgeous pictures and directions to make absolutely stunning cakes and cookies. This bright, colorful book has been put together especially with children in mind. The author, who is also a pastry chef and bakery owner, was inspired by the memories of her own childhood cakes. out of all the cake books i've looked at from the library, this is definitely my favorite. nice pictures, concise directions, sampling of recipes, and the projects don't look impossible. i want to bake! oh yea... AND this has a recipe for peanut butter buttercream frosting. the only thing i wish it had was a basic white cake recipe. but the author has another cookbook so i'm guessing it is probably already in that one.

Awesome ideas! The book has good visuals to go along with the written step-by-step instructions. Gorgeous photos of the finished products. The book seems to have a good mix of essential recipes for party cakes, decorated cookies, as well as frostings and even a fondant recipe.
