A really nice companion to America: What Went Wrong? by the same authors. This book goes into great detail on how the tax burden has been shifted from upper income to middle class taxpayers. No political ax to grind, just the facts. The authors' backgrounds in journalism makes this outrageous info dump a fairly quick read and very digestible.

One of the Finest primers on U.S. taxation that I have ever read. As the second in a series of books about the destruction of the American middle class through the '80's and '90's, it is a superb and detailed read. The truth about our willful destruction of our own way of life in the name of a quick buck needs to be exposed. This book was therapy in my own downsizing from corporate life. Perhaps it will be yours.

Remember investigative journalism? Remember reporting teams? Donald Barlett & James Steele - formerly of the Philadelphia Inquirer - haven't forgotten.
