You know I wonder if Anne Mather ever had children. Between this and another book of hers that I read recently I've got to believe the answer is no. Here the heroine is so afraid that the hero will find out that she is pregnant that she doesn't want to take care of her son who is in the hospital with a bunch of broken bones and is going to need a bunch of after care. And I know, he's her stepson but she has been his mother since he was 3 years old. She married and stayed married for his sake. ...more

A girlfriend recently told me that the trick with reading is to read something powerful and then read a few quick and easy, happy-ever-after, cheesy reads before reading something powerful again. A way to cleanse the palate so to speak and reset expectations. I thought I would give her theory a go and my Mum dutifully provided me with a box of cheesy reads.

This book is about 8 years old (poor Mum...she really needs to update her reading) and yeah didn't do much for me. Storyline was a little abs

The heroine was married to the heroes brother. The brother was a drug addict, manipulator, adulterer, liar and just down devious! He had only married the heroine so she would be a mother to his existing son. The hero and heroine had been attracted to each other and finally gave into their passion the night her husband died while having another one of his affairs. Now the heroine is pregnant but when the hero finds out, he is going to fight for her.

Decent read, boring at times.

The hero in this book was very likeable however the dialogue just didn't ring true and often sounded just plain wrong.

What have I just read? Everyone in this book is an idiot! H suddenly decides he is in love after a one night stand with his dead cousins wife who he knocks up after going to tell her her husband of 15 years just died while getting it on with another woman. h is a doormat for sticking with cheating philandering husband for as long as she did and an idiot for getting herself knocked up on night her husband dies. Stepson (who is an adult) also comes across as a bit of a spoilt idiot as well.

I liked that the woman was older than the man. It's a change from the usual. I got a bit annoyed with Olivia and I thought Christian was decent. Seemed like a good guy. I didn't really feel like they loved each other though. Most, if not all of the book was them repelling each other, arguing and whatnot. I don't know. It was better than some other secret baby books I've read, so...

Pretty much what you'd expect. I was willing to read about anything while I was deployed; beggars can't be choosers.
