Despair Speaking
Why Trinity Blood was awesome:

1. The mixing of science fiction and vampirism. The Bacillus virus is an alien technology humanity discovered during an attempt to colonize Mars. Those injected with it become Methuselah, the long-living, vampire-like beings in Trinity Blood. There also is some sort of barrier of particles that prevent UV radiation that allows the Methuselah, who are weak against direct sunlight, to live freely in their city. Cool, right? There are other examples but those two are t...more

Before beginning this review I'd like to throw a few CAUTIONS out there (don't worry, no spoilers):

1) This manga does have to do with Catholic Church and Vampires, it may seem a little out of the ordinary or offensive to some. However, being religious I was able to read it just fine, you just need to separate fiction from reality. Have a little fun and don't be so uptight!

2)You need to be "into" manga to read this, there are a lot of fight scenes and action! If you are not used to reading motion...more

***Attention*** : the main character is a priest vampire, and his maybe-will-be-his-lover is a nun (I’m not saying if they will be or not lovers, or would spoil the story). So if your are a catholic maybe this manga is a little blaspheme (my mother hate it when I told the plot). But if you surpass this religious problem (at the beginning, after everything little at time changes) you will love it! Why? The graphic is not an Yoshitaka Amano level, but is really good, and it’s funny! So funny! I la...more

I liked the illustrations in this manga best of all I've read so far. They are more detailed with high contrast and the characters have sharp elongated features rather than the rounded doll-like appearance I've seen in other books. The plot was just so-so. (view spoiler)[ basically there is a priest who is the Dexter of vampires, feeding off his own kind. he has angel wings, not sure why. (hide spoiler)] There is also a young girl whose family was killed by vampires (many people seem to have tha...more

Yes, this is a vampire book. I've been pretty sick of vampires, but this story is so much more than your average bloodsucker story. There is an anime based on this series, but it goes in a very different direction, completely veering off the storyline here. Anyway, it tells the story of a postapocaliptic world in which the vampires and humans are at war. In the middle of this is the Vatican in Rome, which now stands as a spiritual center as well as peacekeeping entity. Enter Abel Nightroad, a si...more

This one was all right, although perhaps not my favourite type of manga. It's a bit dramatic - action so fast you can't quite figure out who's fighting who and what's going on. And everything's a bit of a rollarcoaster of gasps, sudden surprises and twists and general carry ons. Which seems a bit strange because when I think back over the plot in this book, not very much actually happens.
This is catholicism versus vampires, with vampire fighting nun teaming up with this special agent priest from...more

Amazing graphics, artistry and storyline. The heros/heroine of this story series are vampires and rogue vampire hunters, nuns and "saints."

As a first series of this type of graphic novel, I found this one just beautiful. I'm collecting all the books. Just love Abel Nightroad, "An absentminded, destitute traveling priest from the Vatican's secret AX organization....His job is to arrest law breaking vampires. And, he takes 3 lumps of sugar in his tea." He's gorgeous and draped with jewelery. :]

** This is a QUICK REVIEW of my thoughts on the book **

This one was recommended to me by friends and is probably something I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise. While it wasn’t bad it also wasn't one of my favourites; I would need to read a few more volumes before passing final judgement but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. (Sorry Amy, I will return it eventually, I promise!)

My main gripe is that the girl character is useless and pointless and therefore annoying. Also, in a lot of the act...more

Note to self: Do not start a manga book, put it down, then pick it up nearly 10 days later. You tend to forget what happened in the first part you read.

Well... at first I thought I was reading a Trigun volume and that Abel was actually Vash the Stampede....because damn! they are pretty much the same character. Seriously, in appearance, in personality, all the way down to the fact that even though they are good natured fellows, they have a dark side. I mean...honestly...Abel is pretty much Vash 2...more

Review: Its set in a post apocalyptic world, with a war between vampires and humans. We meet Esther, a nun in a very catholic setting who doesn’t seem to do much. We meet Abel Nightroad, a priest from the Vatican who’s job it is to fight the vampires. They agree to fight the vampires together. Good.
The first chapter is character intros and a big action scene. This comes from one of Gyula(a high standing vampire) sending one of his vampires to dispose of Abel Nightroad. There’s a big, gory fight...more

Now THIS sort of crap is the exact reason I never really got into manga. Trinity Blood has it all -- an disjointed mix of cutesy and angsty; random characters who do random-ass things; fight scenes that make no sense and leave the reader completely lost; dialogue that sounds like it was written by a machine; the most cliched "war with vampires" premise combined with nonsensical innovations . . . Wow. It's almost worth reading just to see how utterly horrible this is.

This manga is amazing! A friend of mine introduced me to it a few years agoa nd I have loved it ever since. I own 1-4 and eagerly wait to get the rest! Anyways Abel Nightroad is awsome along with Tres but this manga is my taste of vampire. I'm a writer myself and Abel Nightraod is what I picture of what a real vampire can be. If you love vampires and action and of course the art this is your type of manga!
Sarah
I read the first two books of this series and was not very impressed. If I want Catholics vs vampires, I'll stick with Hellsing. The art of this series was a bit muddled and sometimes I couldn't tell which character was which or what had just happened. That said, it wasn't terrible and perhaps people who really enjoy action manga will like it more then I did.
Sara
Wow, that was an awful lot of awesomeness for just three action packed chapters.
I am already hooked on this series. Despite the slightly hard to understand action scenes the fighting in this was amazing! Not only that I knew about some of those characters for about two pages and was still sad when they suddenly died. I absolutely love Father Nightroad! and Tres. Diet-rich's betrayal was a shock, evil demon and that thing with the codes was sick. Esther was a little on the needy side for a heroin...more
Dexter/Persy
Very confusing, all-over-the-place art, an uninteresting villain, and a very lacking plot. The only things I liked about it was two of the main characters, Abel Nightroad and Tres. I'm willing to start the next volume to see if it gets better, but I doubt it will.
Emma
I liked the story line and the art is beautiful, but sometimes the art was simply TOO detailed. There was a couple of parts were I didn't understand what was going on because I couldn't depict what was person, motion, or background in the picture.
Khallandra
Loved this and have re-read it many times. I loved it so much that I quickly bought the rest of the series and eagerly await more. Abel is just and awesome character but the art is beautiful and funny as well. Especially Tres.

I just started watching the anime again. I was just a filly when I first saw it, and watching it again I feel nostalgia. Its still good. Now in going to read the manga when my "currently reading" dies down.
Heather
Honestly it seems like a good series but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe too much action right away? Maybe I am in the wrong mood? Anyway the artwork is gorgeous! I just didn't like where it was going.

The art in this series is drool-worthy! The plot is sometimes complicated, but each character's story is heart-wrenthingly sad. It makes you wonder time and time again, who can you really trust?

A great series, I saw the manga and they are quite different and similar at the same time. Hoping to read more of these. I should probably add that there is a lot of Christian and Catholic symbolism in these books. Interestingly it seems to be a parody on the age of feudalism (lets say 10th to 17th century). The humans seems to be symbolic of Europeans while the vampires are supposed to be people from the middle east. Has a very intriguing and immersive world, but the first book doesn't bet very...more

Finally I get this series! Yay!

Filled with my favorite things: theology, myth, goths, two-sided characters. Don't like vampire too much, but here the details are enlightening.

It's a pity, though, the overlapping panels and the Indonesian translation are somewhat annoying :(

Anyway, this officially becomes my next favorite dark manga :D
Tori
This series, the light novels, and he anime are all brilliantly done! Worth looking into if you love vampires, action, or sci-fi.
Hailey
I liked it, in a post-apocalyptic vampire war manga. I loved it, even though it is moderately gory and a little against religion.
Reetta Saine
Harvinaisen sekava väkivaltapläjäys, joka asetti jälleen kerran manganlukutaitoni vakavasti kyseenalaiseksi. Loppua kohti juoni alkaa löytyä.
Amy
I was somewhat reminded of Trigun (the main character at least had a similar personality), but overall it was just okay. I'd probably get into it if I continue to read it.
Scott Whitney
I have always enjoyed this story which I have seen as an anime. I am happy for the opportunity to read the manga.
