OK, so I might be a little biased because Dana is family (in-law), but I was so impressed with her talent in this, her first book of a series. I read a lot, many types & many authors. She is right at the top of the list. The Spell Keeper takes you to the land of Tevious, an "Other World", and when I read the book, I could just picture it all perfectly. The story is wonderful, full of mysterious creatures and sorcerer's and magic. I cannot wait till the next book in the series come...more

The plot here is very standard genre, which may be the point. I often look for something different and quirky in the fantasy I like to read. If you're looking for something with the classic elements of high fantasy, this could be a good read for you. I didn't find anything new here to excite me.

I was disappointed with the wordiness, and I thought the prose could have been sharper and more exact.
