IMO this one is better than Warlock, for all the same reasons, but about a historical period (conquest of MX) that is not nearly as overplayed. It begins with Cabeza de Vaca, then flashes back and forth to the conquest of the Aztecs. Talk about a ripping yarn! The battles for Tenochtitlan have enough jaw-dropping action for a whole bookshelf of lesser novels.
