This is horrible. It's the worst children's history of America I have ever read. Its tone is patronizing, its facts and interpretations are dubious, and its illustrations border on the criminally inaccurate.

I won't say much about the writing. It's awful, not worthy of a history at all.

As an artist and lover of history, I am especially offended at the images in this book.

The illustrations are all 1950s modern interpretations of old events, wrong and misleading in nearly every detail. The drawings

This book is the first in a series of three written by Gerald White Johnson to Peter van der Honert, whoever that is. Not much good to say about this book, but not much bad either. I'll still try though. :)

Good: The book was mostly historically accurate, though it did leave out what I think are important details from certain events. There are some exceptions though, and a big one is that they said George Washington wasn't an army officer before he was asked to lead the American troops in the Rev

It's not that I'm such a pc person but the language, terms, words, and tone was too much to get past. I even had trouble with the illustrations. I think the author talks down to the reader and there are inaccuracies.
