I first did this show as a Reader's Theater many a year ago. (A reader's theater is when you sort of try-out a show for a small audience, minimal staging, book in hand.)

I liked the show a lot, and the character I played (Shirley), and I wanted so much to do it as a full production.

Now, years later, I finally have that chance, yet find myself a bit underwhelmed. I just don't love the show as much as I did those 7, or so, years ago. I'm not sure what it is...

This is a great concept but not the best application. It's a very non-realistic play, so don't expect much to make sense. The world is ending, but nobody seems to know the details of it. Everyone also drink A LOT, which is fine since the play takes place in a bar, but nobody really gets drunk unless their drinking offstage. Again this could be part of the non-realism. This is a laugh out loud - albeit very dark comedy - about the end of the world. Ironically for an apocolypse play...it has an upbeat ending.
