I found this book in the library when I was a kid and loved it. Two stepsisters (I think) went to boarding school and met a girl from Hawaii. It must have made an impression on me--I remember parts of it very well.

This is the third volume, first is "Best Friends" (German title "Endlich eine Freundin") and the second volume is "Best Friends in Summer" ("Eine Freundschaft bewaehrt sich").
The first volume was the best!
