Read this in conjunction with a parenting class I was taking as a way to get to know people here in Michigan. It was a wonderful class and book. I loved their approach to parenting. The book was consise and easy to understand, with good examples. I would highly recommend this for a quick read on parenting. I hope to read the other ones about elementary school age children, and teenagers.
Even though this is an older book, I really liked the messages and specific skills it introduced. I liked the reflective listening section and you-messages vs. I-messages. It really helped me learn how to communicate better with my toddler in concrete ways.
This is a really excellent parenting book. Even the best parents in the world could learn a new technique or two from this book.
Love this book so far. It has helped my understand my 4 year old and 2 year old better. It has great advise on communicating with them.
