"What Witches Want" is book 2 of the Witchery series by Laura Stamps. What a fun read and Goodreads.com even gets a mention!!

This is a beautiful story about friendship, healing, and love. Although this is my first book by the author, it’s actually Book 2 in the Witchery series. I jumped right in with ease, so I would consider this book a stand alone.

First, let me say, I loved that this book is sprinkled with details about Wiccan culture and traditions. Each witch is chosen by a Goddess at some point in their life, and their Goddess offers protection and guidance. Although this is my first book by the author, it’s actually Book 2 in the Witchery series. I jumped right in with ease, so I would consider this book a stand alone.

First, let me say, I loved that this book is sprinkled with details about Wiccan culture and traditions. Each witch is chosen by a Goddess at some point in their life, and their Goddess offers protection and guidance. Savannah has come to Columbia, South Carolina to start a new life without her emotionally abusive ex-husband Greer. A Wiccan Faery Witch, Savannah is surprised when her Egyptian Cat Goddess Bast brings an adorable kitten Re to her front door. Goddess Bast also indicates a new love will enter Savannah’s life. But Savannah first goes through healing with the help of fellowship from her Wiccan friends, especially long-time friend Ravena and her new neighbor Noelle. During the first part of the book, you’re immersed into Savannah’s life and with the rich details, you truly feel as if you’re going on this journey with her: dinners and afternoon iced teas with her girlfriends, dealing with the damage of her marriage to Greer, trying to keep her magikal handbag business successful, dealing with the riotous antics of her new kitten Re! (I’ve got a dog, but I’m seriously considering a cat now!). When Noelle and her sexy Wiccan boyfriend Wynn introduce Savannah to green witch Donnie – sparks immediately begin to fly. I loved that Savannah was very sensual and had no shame in giving in to her desires and heart. With gorgeous Donnie’s long blond hair, lean killer body, and gentle spirit, can you blame her? But when Savannah’s ex arrives in Columbia, she suddenly has two men in her life!

In addition to the love blossoming, this book has a chill factor that gave me goosebumps in a “Sleeping with the Enemy” sort of way. As Laura Stamps will tell you, she’s been there – and it’s clear she’s writing from experience. The way the little subtleties begin to slowly escalates…..just read it! Don’t worry, there’s definitely a satisfying HEA and Savannah comes out on top. I can’t wait to read Book 3 in this series, Call of the Witches – fortunately, I think its available this October. Savannah Monroe a Wiccan Faery Witch who is coming out of an abusive marriage. Recently divorced, and needing to be around people she loves and respects, she moves to South Carolina to heal her spirit, and to find her strength again. When a series of interesting things happen, she leans on her fellow Wiccan friends for moral and emotional support.

This book has some heartfelt, as well as some very funny moments in it! I loved the bond Savannah and her friends had with one another. They lean on each other for strength, and emotional support. Their customs and beliefs was the key factor to Savannah's healing and personal growth. Savannah does a lot of soul searching and healing before she finds her soul mate, Donnie in this story.

I loved Donnie! He was strong, sexy and so good for Savannah. Like Savannah, he is a fellow Wiccan, and he and Savannah develop a very strong connection between them that won't be denied. He is nice guy with a strong protective streak for Savannah and the people he cares about. So in my opinion, he is a combination of a Beta/Apha mix...it just doesn't get any better than that! (Plus, his friend Wynn the shapeshifter was pretty darn hot to read about too...sigh)
This story is not only interesting, but it easily kept my attention. My only complaint (small) is I wish Donnie would have come into the picture sooner, but I understand why he didn't. Savannah had to get to a better place personally, before she could be ready for the love and connection she and Donnie share together. There is SO much to this novel that I am not touching because I don't want to spoil it for everyone! Just do yourself a favor and read the book!
I absolutely loved learning about Savannah's beliefs and watching her grow into the self-assured witch she became!
I can't wait to read the next installment of the Witchery Series! I am very interested in how everyone's lives will turn out!

I knew how I would feel about this book before I even read it because I love the mastery with which this author weaves a story, incorporating her own positive message throughout with lyrical, poetic language that soothes even as it enertains. Watching the progression and growth of Savannah through the teachings of her friends Noelle and Ravena gave new meaning to the term girl power.

This story was infused with more of the poetic descriptions (which began in The Witches of Dixie) used to paint the imagery of the seasons and sights in Columbia. I loved this book. It was a great read. I loved the relationships between the witches Nicolle, Rayena, Mirabelle, and Savannah. But also with the men in their lives. I was so glad when Savannah and Donnie met and they just seemed to mesh. I was so glad when she got rid of Greer. The book was hot and sexy but also very tasteful. I can't wait to see what happens with the gang in the next book.

Another enjoyable book by my Goodreads friend, Laura Stamps. This book expands the story of one of the characters in The Witches of Dixie, Samantha. It contains a lot of good information on various types of witches, and I always learn a lot from Laura's books. In this particular volume, I especially enjoyed the character of Cammie, the faerie with whom Samantha can communicate. This is a great read!!
Thanks to the author, Laura, for telling me about it.
It gave me a great outlook on life and hope that I can keep psychic vamps away from me, so that I can keep my own energy up.
