Hard to keep a straight face while reading this. It got me to wondering how the word Dick had changed in meaning over the years. I bought this book because in King's Shining when Danny is trying to learn to read so he can understand the words Tony is showing him, his parents used this reader. If the boy (Dick) had a different name I'd probably wouldn't mind reading this to my daughter.
Part of the Dick and Jane series, this book is very repetitious and introduces students to common everyday words including those related to play. Although some terms are somewhat dated, i.e. Father and Mother, the books can be readily understood and include terms all children should know.
