If you’re looking for a memoir with a lot of literary value, then keep going. However, if you’re looking for delightful anecdotes, stinging quips and an all-around hilarious, yet touching trip down Memory Lane, then Leslie Jordan’s “My Trip Down the Pink Carpet” is a good choice.

Full of southern charm, Jordan recounts a variety of details from his life in a small southern town and his journey to becoming one of television’s most recognizable character actors. Most peopl...more

Even if you don't recognize Leslie Jordan's name, you've probably seen him as Karen's diminutive nemesis, Beverly Leslie, on Will and Grace or any one of hundreds of unforgettable characters he's created. I saw him in a production of Southern Baptist Sissies in Los Angeles several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed seeing him "up close and personal" (literally, since I bumped into him in the lobby after the show!)

Jordan's collection of stories entertains and yet fills me wi...more

So winning. Funny, sweet, smart, edgy, and honest! Who knew our littlest homosexual and nemesis of Karen Walker was this deep?
I'll admit that I'm fascinated by "celebrity" autobiographies. There's always dirt in them, a bit of pettiness and grasping for that last bit of fame...but with Jordan's book, you get a lot of humor, an extra dose of humility...and quite a surprising amount of acknowledgment at just how lucky he is in life. Quite winning.

I'm laughing right now just recalling some of the zingers in this book. The only thing keeping me from rating it ***** is the relentless recovery discussion.

This was a hoot and a half. Jordan writes like he talks and is very entertaining. Along with the laughs, though, are a lot of "airing of dirty laundry" that titillates as well as evokes pitty in the reader. Somehow the very end of the book struck an unnatural note with me, but overall, I really enjoyed it. A quick read.

Great book and a very quick read. There is so much in this book that I didn't know about this actor or any of the others that he's known. Very funny and entertaining, but be prepared for some adult subject matter as he admits to being a sex addict multiple times throughout the book.
