This is a “special edition” of the National Lampoon, in encyclopedia format, edited by Michael O’Donoghue, with contributions from probably every other person on the National Lampoon staff except Tony Hendra, but the MAIN thing to know is I wrote about it here: Splitsider: The Three Michael O’Donoghue Books You Should Read Before You Die

Dark, subversive, cutting edge mayhem meets social commentary, a zine meets comix meets the Onion, all selected by early SNL writer Michael O'Donoghue.

I was never as big a fan of the NatLamp style, with its sort of frat-boy entitlement that presaged SNL and stood in sharp contrast to the erudite, understated stuff from the Harvard Lampoon, as were some of my friends. Still, in concentrated form like this, though hit-and-miss, it could be amazing.
