The Velvet Book: In the Beginning was a great start of what is to become a six-part fantasy series. While I had some issues with the book (which I will get to later), I really liked the idea behind the story, as well as the world the author has created. Fast paced fantasy that incorporates almost every creature imaginable in an alternate universe where four high school students find themselves enlisted as an army of assorted characters who are trying to save the world from a shadowy villain named The Phantom. Weird pacing makes for a very uneven read. It rushes through sections that could be interesting and pauses for nothing.
No characters of note or interest.
Bored enough within the first quarter of the book to stop and look elsewhere.
