This enchanting historical romance reminded me of Jane Austen’s “Emma” and Oscar Wilde’s “An Ideal Husband.” It’s obvious that the author studied books of this era, recreating dialog and attitudes with the expertise of a seasoned writer. Vicky and Richard play a tricky game of forbidden flirtation when he mistakes her for the “actress” mistress of his friend. I did enjoy this book. The writing was perfect. I hate reading and picking out mistakes in grammar. I was very drawn in to the flawed characters. Some artistic license was taken at some instances I beleive, but that's to be expected in romance. I didn't especially like how she barely knew him but was already in love. The author did give them time to know each other, but I don't think it was enough. And while things weren't quickly resolved I feel like they just waited until they were less mad. I ...more

This is very well written. An ensemble cast, set in the country, with a slightly too drawn out HEA for the main characters, followed by a slightly too fast ending, but a nice read none-the-less
