The Demon You Know (Novels Of The Others #11)
As a research grunt at a local television station, Abby Baker tends to blend into the background, which is where she's most comfortable. But when she ends up being the last resort to cover a hot story, Abby discovers a whole new side to her personality when she is possessed by a fiend--a type of rogue demon. Suddenly everyone wants a piece of her. And now the demon Rule--a...more

I was pretty disappointed with this book. We met Rule in She's No Fairie Princess where he seemed like a great hero. I liked Rule in this book as well but his character wasn't really fleshed out. All I know about him is that he was part of the Watch in the Demon world who protects the Upper world from fiends, who are bad demons. I have no idea what life is like in the Demon world, how their society works or what type of life Rule had there before we met him.

Okay, this was definitely my favourite in the series so far. I loved Rule, who was strong and sexy and really awesomely annoyed at people who kept mixing him up with the fiends he was trying to hunt. As you would be, I suppose. The heroine I didn't like quite as much, but I did still understand where she was coming from even if she was a bit stupid at first. My biggest issue with the book was that the author fell back on the whole "instant attraction" thing, which almost always makes me groan an...more
I don't really know how to feel about this series. There's nothing blatantly awful about it, but at the same time there isn't much to make it stand out from the numerous other paranormal romance novels I've read. The word average sums up this book perfectly--a mindless, predictable, but not unpleasant read.
In the continuity of the series, the "Others"--that is, vampires, werewolves, fae, and all manner of supernatural beings have made the choice to reveal themselves to the human populations, and...more

Abby Baker is a research assistant for a local TV station. When she's on a riot scene to help cover a story, she becomes possessed by a fiend Lou (a not so bad guy). Lou is on the run from Uzkiel (bad guy), a fiend who wants a special spell that will give him an advantage in his fight with the demons (good guys). Lou had been acting as an informer for the demon Rule (good guy), and now Rule is searching for him since he went missing. Rule finds Lou in Abby's body, and immediately takes Abby into...more
ini buku Fantasi/Paranormal ke8 yang saya baca bulan ini saja! Padahal seumur-umur paling saya baca tipe buku ini hanya 1-2 buku setahun..
Mungkin ini disebabkan karena demam Cat and Bones nih. Hehehehe…

Another absolutely fantastic addition to the already amazing Other series!!! ;) Rule sounded incredibly hot and sexy and droolworthy lol and I really liked how strong Abby was. I mean she did have her little stupid or weak moments, but she was always fighting to survive and keep her loved ones alive. I was sad that Lou died, I actually kinda liked the little perv lol but at least he died honorably :) The sex was super hot and delicious, I just wish there would have been more than just two scenes...more
Narrated by Kate Reading - Narration 5*s
The Demon You Know is the third entry into Christine Warren’s The Others Series. The first two were hits for me but this one? Well, there are some hilarious moments as well as a lot of fun scenes featuring the rest of the cast. But the heroine, Abby Baker, is the queen of TSTL.
Kate Reading’s narration saved this one for me. She’s so good with the multitude of voices – voices that stay true to the characters across the series. Her ability to catch each litt...more

It took a while for Christine Warren's books to grow on me. I really enjoy Big Bad Wolf and Walk on the Wild Side. This third addition in the Other series involves a human named Abby who has one blue eye and one brown. Apparently this makes it easier for witchcraft and "fiends" to inhabit her body. After finding herself in the middle of riot and trying to escape unharmed Abby is saved from harm by two feline werewolves. They realize something isn't quite normal about her and with the assistance...more
This book is not soley based on vampires...but it has them in it. I LUV Lou. He has a great sense of humor. Then there is Rule...he is so kool. The author also has a way with words. It was SO funny at times. The ending sux though cause it seemed she was suddenly in a hurry to finish the book, so there was not a lot of info of what happened tween Abby and Rule. Twas still a great book.

My favorite, laugh out loud part of the book...
"Before her brother could guess her intentions, she grabbed him by the arm, swept his feet out from under him, and tossed him over her shoulder like feather pillow. He landed like a ton of bricks. "What the *uck?" Relishing the gesture, Abby brushed her hands together and grinned smugly down at him. "Like I said, I'm not completely defenseless." Thunderclouds rolled in across Noah's expression. Cursing a blue streak, he flipped himself to his feet a...more

This takes place a few weeks after the Unveiling. Humans are rioting all over the world protesting against the "Others".
Abby, a news researcher, was corralled into assisting an over-eager colleague in covering the Manhattan riots. She not only got stranded in the middle of it all but was inadvertently possessed by a minor fiend.
Rule, a Demon enforcer, came to Manhattan in search of his missing informant who has information regarding an archfiend intending on taking over the known Universe. When...more

Well, I liked most of it. I liked Rule, the Demon Watchman hero. I liked the interaction between all of The Others that I have come to know in the previous two books in the series. I actually enjoyed the premise, and the fiend Lou was quite a hoot. And Noah was a definite bonus. What dropped this from four stars to three was the "heroine", Abby. For the first three quarters of the book, she is just flat out annoying. Self-righteous, whiny, demanding, snobby, weak and annoying. I was so hoping th...more
To start off with I liked the title of this book straight away. I started this series so I could read this book and I liked it. It was funny and light but I liked the different story line that the 'others', the paranormal creatures of the world, are out of the closet. No more hiding because the humans no all about you.
I was looking forward to Rule's book as we met him in She's No Fairie Princess, he was a Demon cop and pretty smexy. I liked Abby from the start, however she did have quite a few...more

The third book in the series was entertaining from the start. It caught your interest right away and kept you interested. Warrens previous book She's No Faerie Princess was slow to start but this one wasn't. I enjoy Warren's sense of humour. This book starts off after the Others(were, vamp, demon, etc...) have come out to the general public and society is attempting to process the new reality. Unfortunately they aren't doing so well at adjusting. Riots abound in cities and the an innocent gets b...more
The Demon You Know is a return to the type of story that first drew me to Christine Warren. Rule, the demon Watchman, returns from his introduction in a previous book to find his mate in a "plain-Jane" human without a touch of magic but with a heart filled with faith. The constant emphasis on Abby's looks got old but as it was integral to the story, I could overlook the numerous references. This one is definitely worth a read.
The ending almost took this down to a 2 star read for me. I was disappointed in how many of the characters acted, but liked the rest of the book enough to deal.
What I enjoyed:
* Lou, the fiend. He was good comic relief.
* Abby's brother, Noah. In fact, I'm going to have to check to see if he has a starring role in any of the newer books.
* The other females at club and the friendships they developed with Abby.
What could have been better:

The Others have been outed and as predicted, the humans aren't taking the existence of witches, vampires, werewolves and were-anything very well. There are riots going on in New York City and Abby Baker is stuck in the middle. She's busy cowering behind a bunch of cars when a group of thugs start beating up a teenage Other. When the Other gets knocked into her, the demon snatched his opportunity and possessed her. Well, not a demon, a fiend. Rule is a demon and he has nothing in common with Lou,...more

I'm with Abby, I'm going to miss Lou. Sad, isn't it? I think the next full book is Noah and Samantha. At least I know them both already :) But next on the list is a SS in No Rest for the Witches (Nightcreature, #7.5) (Magic, #3.5), Any Witch Way She Can. Is it Tess' story? Or another witch we don't know yet?
Call me slow, I'm just starting to figure out that many of the books I'm reading are Romance novels first and paranormal second. This series by Christine is a good balance of the two. The mythology in this urban fantasy is well done and the romance while sexually active doesn't over reach into pure porn like some stories I've read.
Bottom line is this is an entertaining series and I'm sure to read the next two.
Cheers!

I know that it looks like I may have struggled with this book but that is not the case. I have been working on Christmas presents so I have been reading much. I love this world and its many inhabitants. If there is a myth then there seems to be a representative in Ms. Warren's world. I also loved that Demon's are not all bad and can in some instants be good. I have a real weak spot for a growly alpha male and Rule is all that and more. The sex is hot, hot and the suspense is just enough to keep...more
This was a fun read. I've read the first one and now this one which is either 3rd or 9th not sure. Rule big strong silent type, Abby short plump and plain. Fun couple, that the author makes work. A real easy read, with little depth, but oodles of escapist romance and a bit of hot sex. Absolute hot bath material.
I just can't get enough of this series at the moment and the only reason I'm not reading the next book is because I don't own it. I'm going to rectify that immediately though.
I've fallen in love with the world and the characters and the stories have you hooked till the end. I'm heading to the bookshop to buy the rest.

Very good book. Just the right amount of conflict between the main charaters. This book made up for #2 in the series, which I quit on. I was kinda surprised by the ending. I thought their was another aspect to their relationship that needed a resolution. (I won't mention what it is here). Suffice it to say I'd never seen the situation go without resolution before. Anyway, Excellent, fast paced book with very likeable characters.
The reviews for this book in the series are all over the map. I'm leaning towards the ones that conclude it's the best so far.
"He went to her head like a shot of whiskey but tasted a whole lot better. He sent the same fire curling into the pit of her belly with none of the bitter acid on her tongue. Instead, he was smooth and rich and sweet like fine chocolate, and for once in her life, Abby didn't worry about the treat going straight to her thighs. She rather hoped he would."

Born and raised in coastal New England, Christine Warren lived in the South and the Mid-Atlantic before hopping to the other side of the country to take up the life of a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her landlocking phobia. Hmm, need to research a scientific term for that...
