This book is so fun to read and my 2.5 year old daughter loves to hear it. I also love that the main characters are female and the hero in the end (the queen - female) is described as very smart. The doctor in the book is also female, although it's a little hard to tell b/c of the old-fashioned illustrations. PS- I have not listened to the cassette part so I can't comment on that.

This is a fun and bouncy story about a little girl with a blister by Amy MacDonald and illustrated by Marjorie Priceman. It's a pretty silly tale and we enjoyed listening to Judith Black narrate the story on CD while we followed along with the story. The ending is sweet and as everyone knows <spoiler>a kiss from Mom makes everything better!</spoiler>

A book that must be read-aloud to children, Rachel Fister's Blister by Amy McDonald is a darling tale about the many suggested cures for a little girl's blistered toe. The illustrations are scribbled sketches that perfectly fit the chaotic storyline. For coming up with the ultimate solution, the Queen is the smarest in the land, but mom will always be the best at making a boo-boo go away. It's one for my F.C.L.P.(Future Classroom Library Pile) for sure.

"Rachel Fister found a blister on her little left-hand toe. Just a tiny little blister, but she thought her mom should know." Mrs. Fister sent for Mister, who calls... until eventually the Queen is consulted. Whose advice is to "Just use your lips." Which has everyone stumped except Rachel's mother.
The children loved the absurdity.
