In his debut collection, Benjamin Drevlow kept me reading. I felt like a fourth-grader again, staying up too late, intent on finishing his non-fiction treat. And, when I had turned the final page, I felt satisfied, yet saddened, something akin to watching the final episode of Firefly.

There's a brutal honesty here that's nothing short of wonderful. The stories are both hilarious and heartbreaking, and while they can be read and examined individually, they make for a tragic story of a family black sheep trying to make sense of a rather unconventional upbringing.

Compared to other short story collections, this one stays at the top of it's game from page one through to the end. Excellent stuff from an excellent author.
