ejd...amazing!!

what a great book!!! this had to be my favorite of the three...a true page turner.

eric, you really had me hooked after i read chapter five. what a great way to introduce j.s. and intertwine your world of fiction.

loved the new characters. each of their stories were compelling and very well written. i'm a diehard sex and the city fan, so i can relate to "mrs robinson's" obsession. well, almost...everything except the 25k.

his writing never disappoints. so descriptive...such a talen...more

Wet Your Hand and Wait for Me

The prolific Dickey’s latest book again details the life of everyone’s favorite assassin, Gideon. Book three finds Gideon once again the hunted instead of the hunter. Detroit has again reared her head and wants Gideon’s head (literally) at all cost. She has obtained the services of a husband and wife assassin team for the job. Gideon is caught up in a cat and mouse chase, where failure means death. He enlists the help of fellow assassin Hawks. Only one team can prev...more

Gideon is back with more trouble than ever. He just can't leave that bad Detroit job behind as The Lady of Detroit is out for revenge. She won't stop hunting Gideon until she has his head on a silver platter. El Matador and his wife are the assassins that are hot on Gideon's trail. They are the chosen ones that The Lady of Detroit has enlisted to take down Gideon. But will their own internal struggles stop them from completing the job? Gideon soon gets assistance from a beautiful assassin named...more

I'm a big fan of Eric Jerome Dickey's writing. I believe I have read all of his book and liked most of them. But, "Dying for Revenge", the third book about a hitman named Gideon, is a stand-out performance for EJD. This book, along with "Sleeping with Strangers" and "Waking with Enemies" seem to be EJD's attempt to reclaim the attention of young men since his readership has been dominated by young black women. Gideon's story is geared toward a different demographic. The story engaged me and intr...more

Everyone's favorite hit man Gideon is back in yet another book. He let someone live and now it is coming back to haunt him. I strongly suggest you read Gideon's previous book (Liars Game, Sleeping with Strangers and Waking with Enemies) otherwise you will be slightly lost. "Sleep" and "Waking" have non-stop gratuitous sex and you will find yourself skipping pages all over the place trying to get to the point.

But Back to "Dying" Gideon let one of his clients live after he killed her husband and...more

The book was just okay. I listen to the audible book and did not care for the female reader. Having said that I still had issues with the characters. I understand that growing up can be difficult, but for the love of God there has to come a point when you take charge of your life and stop whining. In this book all of the main characters were whiners. The female assassin was like an overgrown child with shoe fetish that was stupid and the over use of the word "swavey" border on asinine. We the re...more

While I was reading the first 50 pages or so, I was lost sometimes on which character I was reading from Jean-Claude, to Catherine, and female assassin.

This book feels like a Walter Mosley Easy Rawlins type of book to me, he is speaking about hitmen throughout the book. I see he is trying to transition from romance/erotica books to adult thrillers now! Finally, when I got to the middle to the end of the book, it was definitely a suspense thriller. There were twists with the assasins, and seems...more

The 3rd book in Dickey's Trilogy about Gideon a globe-trotting "killer for hire" -with a strong sense of family-ie to have a birth family. Gideon suspects his prostitute Mom's john who he killed at age 7 was his biological father-etc.,etc.-the man is Troubled with a capital "T". However-the Gideon books are engaging, action packed, full of sex, adventure and local flavor -Gideon's "jobs" and family quest usually take him to several places including,The Bahama,Paris,London,Atlanta,Montreal(his birt...more

This fast-paced story is about a steamy, seamy underworld of crime and the man that runs the streets, Gideon. He's a character squaring off against his most intriguing adversary yet. During his first two books in this series, he captivated his audience with his sex life and his hit life. During this one, he does the same! :)
All around the world, knocking off the contracts on his hitlist, and even escaping the contracts on him, Gideon manages to have a sex life and take care of his family of two,...more

Not come across this writer before but glad I gave him a chance. Very violent and a lot of graphic sex. Gideon, the hero, is a hitman without mercy. I like that about him. If you're gonna do a job...

Lots of glamorous locations but Gideon is a tortured soul who knows he's living on borrowed time and accepts it. Some innovative ways to kill people when you don't have a recognized weapon.

Not sure what it says about me as a woman - liking so much violence, I mean - but there you have it!

I shall look...more

Awesome. I love this character and his brooding somewhat unlikeable disposition... He is no one to mess with; but, he has this interesting ability adapt in order to develop "love" for the ones he cares for. Eric Jerome Dickey did a great job writing these books, down to every explosion (double-entendre intended).

An absolute piece of trash. Two dueling hit man named Gideon and El Matador. Neither one would last a minute on the street, nor would the woman hit hit person sho can't dress with out wearing Manolo Blahnicks. Give me a break. Rarely do I decide not to finish a book, but this book was irredeemable.
Jody
The premise of the book was interesting: hitman being hit by other contract killers while he has some involved relationship with a woman who raised him. However, I just couldn't get into the book, mostly because of the choppy paragraphs. I stopped after 45 pages.

Probably too gory and too sexy for me to read, but it kept me entertained. I'd like to go to Antigua now. Dickey gets read a lot at the library and I was mostly curious. Not too much substance, purely for shock value.

Great plot and story line, loved the fact that this book was about assasins! Lots of great action, charecter interaction was entertaining, and I liked that the story was a series. Definatly recomend reading all the books.
Grace
Great writing as I always expect from Eric Jerome Dickey. This was a good yet somewhat sad story. Dickey presents his characters so thoroughly that you feel like you know them. Really enjoyed this book.

EJD doesn't disappoint! What can I say that hasn't already been said? If you liked the first two books in the series, you'll love this one too. Another action packed thriller with twists, turns and steamy scenes...this one is definitely a page turner! Awesome job EJD! I can't wait to read the next one!

Just finished the book. It was a slow read and I enjoyed the other two more. Gideon seemed vulnerable and to be honest weak. Sounds like there might be another book, I hope we get the old Gideon back.

It’s too bad this story is exceedingly and unnecessarily long. Too much about kids and violence aplenty earns a 6 of 10 stars that should have been at least a nine.

I started this book but made it to the second chapter and for Christmas I got Bishop T.D. Jakes' Before You Do, so this book is now on hold!

This is a pretty good book with a lot of suspense and intensity. The only downside is that I realized that I was reading the third book in a trilogy only after I was halfway done with it!

Is it just me or is the Gideon series lacking something? I love Mr. Dickey's book but for some reason I feel they are losing there touch.

This was may fave out of # 2 & # 3 of Gideon . I was unaware that it would end the way it did , although while I truly enjoyed :)

Good installment in this series. I seriously hope that it doesn't end with this book. I really enjoy this character, he's one of the more three dimensional characters EJD has created for us.

EJD also introduces us to more characters, all of whom are very interesting and have some intriguing back stories.

EJD finally faces the Lady from Detroit whose been stalking him for years. And it's one helluva ride from beginning to end. I might have preferred a different ending (no spoiler) but it was suffic...more

I enjoyed this third book in the Gideon trilogy, but not as much as the first two. Still it is a great read.
