My fourth grade students begged me to purchase a class set of the book Night of the Living Dummy, part of the Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine. I can see why they love this book, although--sorry, kids, I won't be getting a class set.

Night of the Living Dummy is kind of like a cross between Stephen King weirdness and the Night Gallery series by Rod Serling, but targeting kids. That aspect of the story was fun. I enjoyed the creepy and familiar of the story. (I recall, in fact, an evil...more

The book is night of the living dummy by R.L. stine. It was published september 1st 2003. This is a horror story {but is not in my opionion}. I dont know any rewards it had 110 or 120 pages took me about a week to read. The characters are lindy and kris and slappy at lindy and kris's house.

The settinng is at kris and linda's house. The protagonist was linda and kris. They had to decide what they was going to do ...more

Kris and Lindy Powell are twin sisters. They share not only their birthday, but also their room, their clothes--just about everything. It's a blessing and a curse--they're very close, but they can really irritate each other, too.

One day, when looking around next door, where a house is being build, Lindy finds a ventriloquist's dummy among the garbage, and names it Slappy. As she practices and gets skilled with the dummy, Kris becomes jealous, wanting her own dummy. Their father finds...more

Slappy surprisingly played only a small part in the original book. He was found in a dumpster by Lindy Powell, implying that Slappy has had more mischief in his past than we know about. Lindy took the dummy home, but soon her twin sister, Kris, became jealous and got a dummy of her own, named Mr. Wood. After purchasing Mr. Wood, strange things began to happen. The girls' room was turned upside down, and the kitchen was demolished when all of the food was emptied out and thrown about the room. Ho...more

This book is about Kris who loves playing with dummies and one day her dad just found a new dummy for her to play with, thinking it was a perfectly nice dummy she put it next to her old one. When she played with her dummy it was moving and talking by itself and she started being suspicious. Then her family did a talent show, her dad was playing a guitar and her mom was dancing and her sister was showing her painting. When it was Kris's turn the dummy insulted the family and they taught it wa...more

Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy by R.L. Stine is about two sisters who while riding their bike come across a house under construction. This story is about Kris having a dummy that turns real at night. She got it as a present from her dad. She liked it so she kept it. One day there was a show at her school and she brought it to school with her to perform. The dummy started to go out of control and moved by itself. Kris knew something was wrong and the dummy was suspicious. One time at home the dummy even threw up some green liquid out of it's mouth and Kris knew she had to destroy it now.
I can connect this to like other bo...more

What if you had a dummy but you figured out it was haunting you? What if you had a dummy who made you his slave and would kill your loved ones if you didn't obey? Well that is exactly what happened to Lindy and Kris in the book Night of the Living Dummy by R.L. Stine.

Kris and Lindy are just two regular identical twins who have a new house being built across the street from there house nothing bad about that. When they are both snooping around the house, Lindy suddenly finds a body! ...more

I have read very little of this whole series (only about 8-10) but so far this is one of my favorites!! I had known a lot about Slappy before I read the book so I was confused when it was Mr. Wood that came to life first. I was just waiting and waiting for Slappy to come alive and when he did I was genuinly relieved :)
This one is easily the scariest or creepiest one I have read so far. I read it in original print and I think that the cover art was perfect they nailed it!!!
All in all,...more

Lindy and Kris are twin sisters and they look the same on the outside but are true opposites on the outside, that's what it's like for most twins,Lindy and Kris like to bicker a lot, well, they don't like to bicker they just do.They don't bicker all the time though they also like to tell secrets with each other and they like to do things together and they like to be ventriloquist's,well they weren't ventriloquist's at first until Lindy found Slappy then that's when the trouble started. It was one da...more

this was a really good book it was about i think that they were twins but one of them found a dummy in a garbage can and they read the spell that was in the pocket. so then the dummy came to life and one of the girls was perfroming at a concert thing and the dummy was saying dirty jokes then it was starting to let green slime or some sort of liquid come out of its mouth and then she was in really big trouble when the concert was done i liked this book because it was suspenseful and it was kida o...more

I read this book when I was in elementary school and it scared the crap out of me. R.L. Stine really captures the fears of what a young boy or girl would imagine up in bed at night. I loved the whole collection of Goosebumps when I was a young boy and was obsessed with them so much I couldn't wait for the next one to come out so I would wait outside the bookstore some days. I really recommend this to anyone who is trying to get their child to read more or to any child that is in love with horror...more

Chucky has relatives! haha Throughout the entire book I kept thinking of Chucky a doll who comes to life and terrorizes a young teenager. I read this book in less than 24 hours...I had to, the cover creeps me out!

I kept thinking, there is no way this book will be better than the Child Play movies (which I love) but it was pretty darn good. There is a Night of the Living Dummy 2, this should be interesting. A pretty creepy book. I'm actually scared haha seriously I was terrified of C...more

Ahhh, the Goosebump days. I would borrow so many of these from the library they seriously considered extending my limit of books checked out at one time. R.L. Stine you were a reprieve from a harsh and dreary childhood in which my mind wandered far away from the troubles of the day. I stole books into my bed and read far into the night by the faintest of lights. I might have better eyesight were it not for you; however, I regret not one page or line.

The very first Goosebumps book I ever read. I distinctly remember feeling sick when I read it, and telling my mother about how horrible it made me feel. Her words of advice were: "If something doesn't make you feel quite right, you're better off to stay away from it".

Despite my mother's words of wisdom, I guess only a true fan of horror would have gone back and finished the book, which is exactly what I did. I've never looked back.

This was the third grade book club selection this month. They loved it--it is fresh (in the wise-cracking way), scary, funny, and written to keep young readers hanging on every turn. As an adult, I could find fault, but I won't, because I know Goosebumps has been the saving grace of many a reluctant reader. Plus, the thought of Slappy and Mr. Wood--the ventriloquist's dummies seeking revenge sends a shiver down my spine!

A huge Goosebumps fan, and I have always thoroughly enjoyed R.L. Stine's work. However, the Slappy series has to be my favorite of them all. A dummy that comes to life and does all sorts of evil things just freaked me out the most when I was a kid, and today I go back and read these stories with a smile on my face, remember how afraid they made me. I had alot of sleepless nights thanks to these books. Bravo, Mr. Stine.

This goosebumps is one of my favorite goosebump books because I also saw it on television. It was very interesting, and it was able a dummy that comes to life and scares others. I feel like this book reminds me of Chuckie the doll that kills people. It was a very enjoying book and I would read it again. I would recommend this book to people who enjoys an easy read because it's an easy book to finish.

This girl named Lindy names this dummy she finds slappy. She thinks that slappy is kind of ugly. She also thinks that slappy is alot of fun. She learned how to make slappy walk and talk. Lindy has a sister that is jealous of all the attention Lindy is getting. Lindys sister kris says that is not fair that she is getting all of the luck. Evil things start to happen, bad things too. Kris gets a dummy of her own. Kris said that there is no way that a dummy can cause all of this trouble. Or is ...more

I was hooked on these series as a kid. I remember when this first book came out and all the hype surrounding it, and quickly joined in on scarfing these things down. They were fun at the time, although even in grade school they had me rolling my eyes at some of the goofiness (and the cliffhanger chapter endings! Every chapter, without fail!).

Never read it, but I found this book one day in a drawer in the basement and the cover absolutely freaked me out. I threw it out after the cover haunted me nearly ever time I went to the attic. But it's not that I hate suspenseful books; I love them. They just make me paranoid and jumpy, so I try to draw away from them when I can.

this book is about how this little girl buys this dummy doll and suddenly the doll comes to life, but when she tells her parents and friends nobody believes her. Then the doll starts to do things on purpose like break everything in the house. Also every time she tells her parents or friends it was the doll they think she's telling a lie.

This is a story that we had on our shelves that eventually wore completely out. By the time it was through with my children, we were trying to hold the lose pages together. Great Book. It is genuinely scary to kids all ages. I even thought so. Goosebumps are great. They were always my favorite books that my kids were reading.

I decided I would visit my childhood and read a Goosebumps... I have to say it was almost as good as I remember them being. It was an easy quick read and left me wanting to read Night of the Living Dummy 2 so that I could see how it would end. Although the book was not nearly as scary as I remember them, it was still an enjoyable read.
