A grand survey of our understanding of the cosmos, from the ancient Greeks and Babylonians through the early 1960s. As always, Dr. Asimov writes clearly and simply, and as usual emphasizes the history behind our knowledge. Unfortunately, some chapters are frightfully outdated, and any mention of even neutron stars or black holes, let alone dark matter or dark energy, is completely absent.
