I went to a bookshelf in my library just now to find this book, and noticed it was shelved next to Ezra Pound's Personae; perhaps not entirely a coincidence that -- you can see the influence of Pound's early poems in this collection. There's a strong mythical component, too, and numerous biblical references (these references employed very effectively). Most of the poems are short, stripped down to the essentials, no wasted language, and extremely powerful.

I suppose I should add it, since it's mine. But I won't rate it. Others can do that.

Why is it so few people know of Cooper Esteban's work? This is one of the real guys.
