This is one of the best books I've read on church leadership this decade. It has a great combination of theory and practice. Every church leader should read this book and consider whether or not his or her church has truly discovered its vision. I'm going to read this book again, at least one more time.
The basic concept of the book is that too many churches simply copy what either Rick Warren, Andy Stanley, or Bill Hybels have as their vision of what their church is about and try to ...more

The first time I tried to get through this extremely thoughtful book on vision & church culture I managed to read about half the book before returning it to the library - I decided I needed to get my own copy as it is NOT a "read in one sitting" kind of book. It's a fantastic reference on building vision & values unique to a particular church.

Tremendous book. Mancini did a great critique on the church growth movement as a departure point to responde to strategic needs and challenges of the healthy church
Methodical and intense, this is a good guide for church planning.
Excellent read for contemporary vision casting in the Church

Helpful how-to book for visioneering.
This is, hands down, the best book I've read on visioning, as it encourages a church to consider who it is and then how to harness that for the mission, rather than asking, "Who do we want to reach?" and then trying to transform everything for the sake of that audience. In the process, people both new and old are respected and encouraged in the faith.
Lot's of good insights and exercises, but it's very dense. As a consultant, I can mine this book for a lot of value, but for the average church leader, it would be easy to get overwhelmed. Each idea isn't difficult, however, holding all the pieces together can be a bit complex. Still, I find it a helpful resource.
I'm blogging this one. An excellent source of researched and timely wisdom for all pastors who want to go beyond the assembly line approach to ministry of choreographing a Sunday denomination approved soiree followed by a week's worth of scheduled routine. Do you really want to MINISTER! Read this book.
One of the most clear and challenging books on vision for church leadership ever written.
Very good wholistic book, covers the waterfront very well.
If I could write, I would love to have written this book. Would have changed a few things, but for the most
part they did a great job.

Good integration of organic process for visioning.
