Here's some statistics that I thought were startling (at least the last two), they're from the back cover.
47% of women over the age of 50 are single.
50% of marriages end ind in divorce.
In the first year after a divorce a woman's standard of living drops an average of 73%.
Of the elderly living in poverty 3 out of 4 are women - and 80% of them were not poor when their husbands were alive.
Nearly 7 out of 10 women will at some time live in poverty.
I had many people recommend ...more

This was a quick read, she wrote it as if she was talking to and teaching a group of friends about how they can take control of their financial life. She doesn't like that there are woman out there that don't know how to do anything with money other than balance a checkbook! She wants woman to be more aware of the world and how they take care of themselves and their families through learning about investing. It isn't a "how to" book, more of a book to increase awareness.

Every woman NEEDS to read this book. These days, we women cannot count on a man or anyone else to take care of us. It is for anyone who wants to take control of her own financial future. It really kicked me in the butt to really start taking a serious look at my finances now and where I want to be in the future. I am definitely going to start investing after reading this book!!

Women have many more options in life than they used to. Aside from the fact that we live longer than men, there are tons of reasons why women need the kind of financial knowledge that just doesn't get taught in school. Get out there girl and get the info you need to make good decisions and provide for your family! Don't wait for someone to help you -- step up!

anyone who wants to financially free
This was a great book. Things were explained in a clear manner and it was easy to follow. It really gets you amped to start on the path to financial freedom. From one woman to another, Kim makes you believe that financial freedom is possible. I especially like the worksheet on determining your own personal wealth.

This book is great too but I felt there were a few sexist comments. It's a much easier read than the author's husband's is. It tells a story so it's more fun to read and learn from, but I would still read Rich Dad Poor Dad too.
