Warm, heartfelt, well-written memoir by one of the Twin Cities' better writers about his journey back to Judaism--and himself. It's broad comedy in some places and could offend the overly sensitive or pious, but stick with it. Recommend it.

Neal Karlen's honest and funny story about his love-hate relationship with his Jewish heritage is a great read. By turns hilarious and poignant, Shanda captures a faith journey that many Americans will resonate with.
