Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel is a great story about recycling and keeping the Earth green. Michael Recycle a superhero who wears a colander on his head flew to the town of Abberdoo-Rimey. Here he landed and looked to the town to help clean up and recycle so that they are able to enjoy fresh air and clean water. The town pitches in and cleans up so that the town is sparkling and they can see the blue skies and water. Now they never waste and everyone is always happy.

Michael Recycle is a green caped crusader here to save our world! This is a wonderful book with great facts on how we can help save our planet. Beautifully illustrated the authors have helped make the idea of recycling fun for children through its rhyming verses. As Michael helps the town clean up he helps make the lazy residents see that recycling is not as boring as they thought it would be.

Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel and Illustrated by Alexander Colombo, is another book in this genre. This is the story of Michael Recycle, a flying, caped protagonist with a colander as protective headwear, who battles a green crusade and encourages a town of lazy, dirty and wasteful inhabitants to get their act together and go green. They start recycling paper, cans, plastic etc. The vocabulary is definitely more British; think rubbish and litter. The Illustrations are comic; bright smiley char...more

I used to read this book as part of workshop on packaging and recycling that I used to facilitate with with Year 1's in my role previous role as education officer. The book tells the story of town full of wasteful lazy people who litter and certainly don't recycle. Michael Recycle arrives and teaches the people to clean up their act recycling paper, plastic and cans and putting their rubbish in the bin. In the end the town is clean, bright and colourful and the people love Micheal Recycle.

Science content about recycling is included in this book as well as it being a literature book as well. The recycling tips in the back certainly make it a content book. I would read this book with any age in elementary school.
The illustrations in this book are amazing. I would point them out specifically to the students to get them thinking about how they could make their illustrations better.

This is a perfect book to read around Earth day or at any time of the year to remind children to keep our planet clean. It's fun rhyming dialogue is engaging to students while also reinforcing a lesson at the same time. It makes children feel as though they too can be superheroes who clean up trash around them or put cans in the recycling bin instead of the landfills. To me, it is a less profound form of the Lorax but still teaches children that they have power to make a significant difference i...more
1. What a great story. This books show students they can have fun with words, the font, and size of the letters. It is a creative way to write a story or book. Each page has great illustrations to go along with the text. The text, even though it is a different font and sizes, is still easy to read.
2. This book could be used when having your students write a story about a certain topic, but a color or silliness to it. Recycling is a serious topic, but it can be presented in a fun way.

Michael Recycle is a story about a boy who becomes the superhero for keeping the world environmentally green. The book is all about ways to recycle and how to clean up the Earth. This boy takes full responsibility to lead this movement and gets the help of the people to join him.
This is good for text-set because it shows ways we can be environmentally clean and take care of our Earth. What can we do to keep our world clean? How can we take responsibility for our earth?

Now this book, unlike the others I've just added, should be the one with the four and five star ratings.
This, unlike the others, is an awesome rhyming book that sounds great read out loud. The illustrator did a fantastic job - Julia was excited to get to the next page and couldn't stop herself from flipping back to past pages also.
Michael is a great character and this is an awesome way to get kids into recycling or to keep them interested.
Definitely recommend!

I really liked Michael Recycle because it was a cute way to talk about recycling. Michael Recycle a superhero who wears a colander on his head and flew to the town of Abberdoo-Rimey. This is a great book to use to teach about the importance of recycling. In the story, there is a town that is disguistingly filthy because of the amount of trash that they have laying around. Michael comes to the town with a plan that will help all of their citizens. All of the citizens are working together to recycle their materials and clean uo their city.
This book is a great way to introduce a recycling unit. It is illustrated nicely with pictures and does a great job with rhyming. There is a lot of rhythmn and voice pitch in this book. I used this book to introduce a recycle unit and would use it again.

I absolutely loved this book! I recently did a unit on Earth Day with first graders and I am so upset that I didn't find this book before I taught! I think that recycling and all the concepts of Earth Day can be taught to all grades, K-5. It is a very important thing to learn, and many kids already have prior knowledge of it! Great book!
Colorful, fun book about recycling. I was a little disappointed that the hero, Michael Recycle shows up briefly, disappears to let the town clean up it's mess and then comes back to inspect. I wish he had stuck around and helped clean up. But it was a good book and had lots of great tips on going green.
While this book was very visually stimulating, employed a catchy rhyme scheme, and was characteristically simple, the books plot seemed extremely politically charged. It is important to teach children about waste and the health of our planet, but this "go-green" picture book, was a little too biased.
Clever illustrations pair with a rhyming text to chronicle the tale of Michael Recycle, a young man who makes it his mission to help people in the town of Aberdoo-Rimey keep from growing "rotten and slimy" by recycling. Tips for ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle can be found at the end of the text.

This is a great book to teach students about the importance of recycleing. A good time to read this book is on Earthday. Michael a young boy becomes a cape crusader to help save his town and help others to understand the important ofrecycle. This is a godd read aloud k-4th.
This story is Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel. This story can be used in Kindergarten-2 grade classrooms. This book can be used for lessons on recycling, the environment, conservation of resources, and pollution. This book can also be used for lessons on rhyming and poetry.
The author's craft in this picture book about the importance of recycling, brought a few chuckles from a 10 year old. I read this book on Earth Day and it was integrated nicely. I love the snazzy illustrations and way the font is spread across the pages.
I think this would be a fun read aloud for a class who is looking for a good environmental book. It will not profoundly change your life but it is nice to see more books that are caring about our world. Grades 1+
A fun book about a super heroe that helps save the environment. The story gives the children ideas about how they can help the environment. Also, as a class we can do our own helping the environment project.
