I loved the first two books in Donna VanLiere's Christmas Hope series, and now I can add The Christmas Hope to my list of all-time favorite holiday-themed stories. In spite of my Christian background, I often find it difficult to read inspirational fiction, because it too frequently seems trite, vapid and/or preachy to me. Not so with Donna VanLiere's books. She somehow manages to impart an inspiring message full of depth and meaning that utterly warms my heart without ma
The Christmas Hope is the 3rd book in Donna VanLiere's Christmas Hope series. The story is touching and shows how God can bring hope into your life when you least expect it. Another good story. 3.5 stars

Although it currently July, I decided to get a Christmas book the other day while picking out a book. I really enjoyed this book it was great with making you appreciate the small things and had me thinking the worst when infact I was actually wrong about her Husband Mark. After I was finished reading I thought I must be sick and twisted because there were 2 events that I was wrong about but other wise I really liked it... I left me wishing it wasnt july.

Summary: Patricia and Mark have drifted apart ever since the death of their son Sean. Their Christmases were just like any other day and they moved through life day by day and avoided not only each other, but their friends and family. One day, Patricia's job brings her to this beautiful little five-year-old girl named Emily who's mother had died in a car crash five months before Christmas and needed a place to stay while her foster family went to a funeral. This special little girl gives the cou ...more
Once again Donna Van Liere has penned a lovely Christmas story. Just as Jesus came into the world to give us second hope, joy and light, Emily and Mia come into Patricia and Mark's lives at Christmas and lead the way to second chances, hope, peace, and light in the darkness restoring the miracle and true spirit of Christmas.

As a retired social worker, I identified with Patricia, the protective service/foster care social worker in the book. Dealing with the loss of a son, Patricia and Mark's marriage was crumbling. When five-year-old Emily lost her mother, Patricia bent the rules by taking her home for Christmas. Emily's attachment to Patricia,Mark, and Mia, a seriously ill baby, portrayed her grief. I could imagine the frustrations in Patricia's struggles with the "system" as being typical for current social work pra ...more
Another wonderful Christmas book! I am really enjoying this author & this series. I really like that the author includes people from previous books and interlinks them to the main characters in each new book - gives you a sense of community within the stories. This particular book centers around a woman named Patricia who has faced a great tragedy in her own life and becomes attached to a sweet little girl, 5yr old Emily, who has lost her only parent just before Christmas. Patricia and her f ...more

This has been my favorite Christmas story this year. I was very interested to see what happened.

I've read the 2 previous Christmas books by this author and this one is by far her best. Her writing has probably improved with experience and I also liked the style of this story.

Loss, love, and believing again at Christmas. Nothing earth shattering, and "it was amazing" doesn't exactly describe my feelings for this story, but it has been the best one I've read this year where I really cared what h
THE CHRISTMAS HOPE is book three in a series, but it’s not necessary to read the books in order (obviously, I didn’t). Each once stand by itself as a wonderful story of the miracle of Christmas.

Patricia Addison is a social worker who hasn’t celebrated Christmas for the past four years, and is slowly losing the connection she had with her husband. After she breaks a rule and brings home foster child Emily for the holidays, she and her husband Mark are thrown back together in the desire to make th
The Christmas Hope

Hey, I just read a book called “The Christmas Hope” is the third book of the Christmas shoes series. Ever since I pick up the first book, The Christmas Blessing, I liked the author Donna VanLiere. She’s probably a not very famous writer but I just get in touch with the story that she had wrote so far.
This story “The Christmas Hope” is very heart warming, it takes you on an everyday person’s life’s adventure, through the hard times, you just want to jump in the story and give
The Christmas Hope was a quick and enjoyable read. It is a story that pulled at my heartstrings. It’s about love and loss – the loss of a child and the loss of hope for the future. It is also about grief, pain, healing, renewed hope and faith.

A five year old child named Emily loses her mom but never loses her hope or faith in angels and love. Her innocence and outreach make a huge difference in the lives of everyone she meets. I quite enjoyed all the characters in the book, but especially Emily

This is the third book in Donna Vanlier’s Christmas Hope Series. I have read two of the other books and have found them to be good stories of the magic and hope that the Christmas season. I think VanLiere is one of the better current day Christmas story authors along with Richard Paul Evans and Debbie Macomber to name a few. I still think they are behind some of the classic authors such Dickens, O, Henry and Henry van Dyke when it comes to spinning an exceptional Christmas yarn. I jumped at the ...more
This was the third in this series of Christmas stories, Nathan was still in the story, though he wasn't as much up front in the story as the previous two. This story was about a woman who takes a little girl home with her for Christmas, and this little girl brings her and her husband back together. I was happy that Patti was able to want to have a child in her life again, and that she and Mark managed to make their marriage work again. The only thing that bothered me, is that Patti was kind of s ...more

sweet story of Patricia who lost her son four years earlier. She is a social worker. She picks up Emily whose mother died to take her to the children's home and instead takes Emily to her home. With Emily's help Pat finds the Hope that her mother had told her she must have. Nice tale to read during the Christmas season

I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. It was very good writing and a good, compelling storyline. I had problems with the ending(s), although my wife loved it the way it was. I thought there were multiple endings which seemed to make me think, "Oh, the end.", turn the page, "Oh, the end.", etc.

i soooooooo loooooooove this book! i know christmas is still far away but who isn't excited for it? i sure am! so when i saw this book at the library i decided to pick it up hoping it would awaken some christmas spirits in me and that's like the best decision i made in my's really more than just a christmas book, it's about faith in God and dealing well with all the circumstances that He might give us whether we like it or not; trusting that if God brings us to it, He'll bring us throug ...more

Wonderful Christmas story with a wonderful ending. God Bless foster parents and adoptive parents. People in the story are people I would like to be friends with .
A story of love in the face of loss, joy when all seems hopeless and how light can shine into the darkest places, out of death came love, laughter and a stronger marriage with a new future.

This was a fun little read. VanLiere captures the spirit of the season quite well. I'll definitely be checking out the others in the series!
Even though Christmas is over, I enjoyed this book. It is not great, but it is uplifting, easy to read and has a great message.
The third book in this series. Uplifting story of a social worker who takes a young five-year-old girl into her home for the holidays.
This story was sad....but there were enough happy, uplifting moments to keep me from hating it.

In general I dislike reading books that involve the death of a child.

Great airplane novel to read while flying home for Christmas. I'm a sucker for tear jerker Christmas novels, and this one didn't disappoint. It's a fast read that was done before I made it from one coast to another. It also pulled me right in and kept me distracted from the stress and concern that I was running too late for my flight.

While it is can be read as a stand alone novel, I think it is nice to have the context of the rest of the series. It's fun to see how people are brought back for ca
