The novellas tend to have a paranormal flavor, and this one is no exception. Early in the series, I thought Eve’s own mystical powers would play a greater role as time passed, but that hasn't happened. Nonetheless, I love the way Peabody and Roarke always line up together as sympathetic to occult powers, while Eve is hyper-rational. While I tend to agree with her, I wouldn’t mind being proved wrong occasionally.

Eve’s careful in this story, so she takes Roarke, a couple of other cops, and plenty

I think this is the first book in this series that hasn't mentioned the busy streets of New York and the smell of grilling soy dogs.

Eve Dallas & a vampire?! Got to love it! A good, fast novella!
Jennifer (FFT Reviews)
This was a fun little story that had Eve Dallas going up against a self-proclaimed vampire. Things get creepy when a famous socialite is murdered in her bed with bite marks on her neck. Eve and her partner, Peabody, are then thrust into the underworld of New York City as they investigate a "vampire" club.

I am a huge fan of vampire-themed stories so I was excited to see the pragmatic Eve deal with the potential for paranormal antics. It was interesting how JD Robb made the culprit pretty obvious

This is one of the novellas for this series. I'm not a vampire story lover, but this one is fun. It is actually one of my favorites of the shorter novels, mostly because it is suspenseful despite it's length, and I just love Peabody; she has some great lines in this one! The other one of the short ones that I like is Haunted in Death, another funny one for Peabody.

A socialite is found dead in her apt, killed with what looks like a vampire bite. Eve, Peabody, Roarke, and McNab proceed to a new u

Eve meets Anita.

There are two series I have followed for quite some time that have strong leading female characters, the In Death series and the Anita Blake series. In this novella, we get eve dealing with a case involving vampires. It is not clear a first whether she is dealing with the real thing or if it is just normal people acting as bloodsuckers. The reality is that the tone of this story reminded me quite a bit of my other favorite heroine, Anita, who spends his days dealing with supernat

Normally I save two stars for books that I really didn't like, but didn't out and out despise. Eternity in Death is the exception.
It's not a terrible book. It's not particularly a mystery, more a police procedural thriller. What is is, is a cop-out. There are a couple of these in the 'In Death' series, and to me, they stand out like a sore thumb.
These, 'gimmick' entries into the series always piss me off. 'In Death' books follow a few basic templates; Eve catches a homicide involving a famous se

Eve Dallas, Vampire Slayer...

#24.5 of the Eve Dallas (In Death) series. This novella was published as part of the 2007 anthology "Dead of Night" - billed as "Four all-new paranormal stories". The jacket says the J.D. Robb entry "... puts futuristic lieutenant Eve Dallas in a supernatural showdown with a most seductive criminal: a vampire." Since I have no patience with vampires, werewolves, etc., I picked the book up prepared to hate it, but having read the 28 Eve Dallas novels and novellas that preceded this one I gave it ...more

Tiara Kent is one of those megarich kids whom the media adore. Her money comes from the hard work of someone three generations before her and she has never had to nor even been expected to do anything that remotely resembles work. Thus, her only goals in life are to buy clothes and shoes, to find the next chemical high, and to find the next thrilling adventure.

When Tiara’s father announces his engagement to a woman even younger than Tiara’s 23 years, she becomes obsessed with the horrors of grow

This is a novella from the In Death series featuring Lt Eve Dallas and her band of crime fighters. As with previous novella's from this series this book delves into a bit of the paranormal realm. This book was much more believable than the last novella as there was more logic involved in this book with less suspension of reality. It was an entertaining short, but not imperative to the series if you opt to skip it. If you are intrigued by vampires and the undead sort of story line then you may fi ...more

In this short story from the Dead of Night anthology, our fearless Lieutenant Eve Dallas is hunting a vampire allegedly responsible for the murder of a beautiful young woman. Wait, what? Vampires in an 'In Death' story?! Rest assured this series has not taken a turn down paranormal lane, although you'd be hard pressed to convince this murderer otherwise.

Known for her wild living, the very rich, beautiful and famous Tiara Kent is found dead by exsanguination in her apartment, the only injury on

In addition to JD Robb’s (as of now) 36 full length novels featuring NYPD Homicide Lt. Eve Dallas, there are now some dozen novellas of varying lengths to stave off the fan club in between additions to the prolific larger set. In “Eternity”, we find a typical police procedural starring our leading lady against what seems like a “vampire” murderer, in that the two victims so far, a minor celeb named Tiara Kent, and a bartender that works at the villain’s underground druggie/vampire cult club, hav ...more

eternity-in-death-j-d-robbTiara Kent was your typical club-hopping, party-going, always in the spotlight celebrity. She was beautiful, rich, self-centered and vain. The thought of growing old and losing her looks was a fate worse than death, in her opinion. So when he offered her a chance at immortality; a chance to keep her youth and beauty forever, she jumped at the chance. She did everything he told her to. She drank

I listened to Ritual in Death a couple of months ago and didn't enjoy it at all, giving it only ONE star. This time (another Audio Book) I have given it two stars. There are a couple of reasons for that. Firstly, I listened to it properly - I've since acquired a nice little machine that plays DVDs and CDs and plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car (My built-in CD player/radio in the car became irreparable last year some time). So, though I don't drive every day, I am now a person who listen ...more

Another great novella in the series. I don't know how Robb/Roberts continues to effectively tell a whole story in such a short format without the reader feeling cheated or rushed. I do have to admit I wished the ending wasn't such a quick wrap up on this one, but overall the story was whole, and the other 98% of the story felt unrushed. The full-length stories will likely always be my favorite, but it's nice to eek in a quick-read every now and then and get my Roarke fix. The "possible vampire" ...more

I actually rated this book 4.5 stars.

I may have to create a new grading system for audio books; one in which I give one rating to the story and, when necessary, another one to the narrator.

Mind you, the narrator in this book was mostly fine. I liked the way she made Eve sound, and had no issues with the way Peabody and almost every other character was portrayed. But the Irish accent she put on for Roarke was diabolical. As my husband (who is Irish and was “forced” to listen with me since we were

A fun short story where the ever practical Eve handles another weird case, this time with the victim drained of all her blood by two puncture wounds on her neck and a hypnotic, very arrogant killer.

Next comes Creation in Death, where a killer that Eve and Feeney failed to catch in the past resurfaces.

This was a quick but enjoyable novella starring 2 of my favorite peeps. Eve is brought in to investigate a death where the victim is found with 2 puncture wounds in the throat and all the blood drained out of her....can anyone say Vampire???

She traces the victims last activities to an underground club called Bloodbath and its' mysterious owner Dorian. But how does she prove he is the killer?

This was a good one for a short read.

Eve and Vampires don't mix, but Peabody is ready to carry garlic, stakes and whatever it takes to keep anyone from biting her neck. A young socialite girl of twenty-three is found dead in her room with two puncture wounds and no blood in her body. The girl wanted to live forever and found a charismatic individual who sucked her dry emotionally, personally and monetarily to feed his own ego. Eve wants to demolish this man who thinks he is above the law and has evaded many cities and countries of ...more

Underground club located beneath Times Square. A handsome psycho who thinks he is a vampire, fangs and all, drains a socialite who was hoping to live forever. Too bad it didn't work. Now Eve has to solve her murder.
With Roarke and Peabody and the rest of Eve's awesome team, Eve catches a killer. This one definitely had bite!

Loved it!

It pains me to give this so few stars. I adore her writing and her style but this foray into the Vampire genre just was a miss. The story ends abruptly, the development is slow for a short story and the way she takes down the bad guy is incomplete and unsatisfactory. This was too much of a cliche. I've read it, I won't be going back to it.

There are two Dark Princes in this novella. Goes to show how differently the description can be applied: good-hearted vs. soul of evil. The fabulous Roarke helps Eve track down a semi-vampire. I would have liked this better expanded to novel-length. ETERNITY IN DEATH only carries one plot, and there isn't time for character development.

just a short hundred pager but it wasn't a bad little story. I could see this author being the writer for ever cop or detective show on TV. It reminded me of what would be an episode of criminal minds or law and order. characters are nothing special just do there cop business and take down the killer but the story was decent

Naked in Death is the first book in what was initially meant to be trilogy about Eve Dallas, a NY police lieutenant with a dark past. In that first book she meets the mysterious Roarke, who is a suspect in the case. By the time the third book in that initial trilogy was in stores readers clamored for more.

“Peabody, are you wearing a cross?"

"What? Me?" Her cheeks went pink as she clear her throat. "It just happened that I know Mariella in Records, who just happened to have one, and I happened to borrow it. Just for backup."

"I see. And would you also be carrying a pointy stick?"

"Not unless you mean McNab."

Eve stopped at a light and turned around in her seat. "Repeat after me: Vampires do not exist."

"Vampires do not exist," Peabody recited.”
