This is the fourth in the Cape Refuge series.
On the Tybee side of the river, Cape Refuge's newest rookie cop Scott Crown discovered a young local teen girl who was murdered. Causing a stir is a now out-of-print book by a local popular author with a very similar murder scene in it.
To make their work easier and get things done faster, Cape Refuge's police department is being outfitted with up-to-date computer equipment.

The fourth entry in Blackstock's Cape Refuge series finds a couple of murders, a new baby and a wedding occurring on the small island, all within a short span of time. Jonathan and Morgan are expecting (their infertility travails are documented in the third entry in the series); Cade and Blair are going to the chapel (theirs is the most realistic romance); and, of course, a mystery. There are a couple of notable plot turns that I didn't see coming and Blackstock explores the concept of what it m...more
This book gets two stars in the true sense of "it was okay." Not good—not bad. Mostly I'm angry, because the killer ended up being a character I liked, and I feel like I was tricked by the author. But maybe I just didn't pay enough attention. But the guy who ended up not being the bad guy still seems creepy to me! Oh well.
This can work as a stand-alone novel. I had no idea it was the fourth in a series.

It's been a long time since I have read and not been able to put the book down but that is what happened in this series. I'm not sure why I think I am not an emotional person. I still cry often and am touched when something strikes me or when my heart stirs within me. I found myself particularly moved during a scene in the book when there is a proposal. I found myself welling up with excitement that I could not contain and tearing up with joy for a fictitious character. Lord help the poor soul w...more

This is a time when I wish I could give a book multiple ratings. I gave it three stars for HOW it was written but I would give it four stars for keeping me engrossed. I listened to the first book of the series during a family trip. I found the dialogue a little off-putting just listening to it, and even though months have gone by, I can almost hear the male narrator reading the book in his variety of accents (some were actually quite good.) I guess I find the dialogue less than desirable still.

I haven't read a book that would be this bad in ages. I managed to make myself read about 180 pages of it. Then I decided to read the end, just to find out who the murderer was. If I could give this book minus stars, I would have given them! The reasons why I hated it, are (not in any particular order):
1. The language used in this book was annoyingly naive or something like that. I don't know who to blame for this: the writer or the translator, but it was something I call "lässyn-lässyn" languag...more

Good book. Now I hope the little town of Cape Refuge can stop having so many murders and return to a peaceful small town. I enjoyed the series. I thought I had the mystery solved at the end of chapter 4, but Terri Blackstock threw in a twist at the end. I don't think it was really fair because she did not really let you know very much about the real murderer until the last 4 chapters.
like the people, the drama and the stupidity by the women was a little much. All the fill before getting to the answer of the mystery spoiled my enjoyment of the wedding and the baby. I would have liked to see the mystery wrap up and then end with the final discussions of each character. That way the series would feel like it was really concluded.

Awesome book!!! I bought this one a few months back and decided to pick it up the other day. So glad I did. The first 100 or so pages (in large print, so probably 60 in regular print), were kind of slow for me, but after that I didn't want to put it down. Suspenseful murder mystery story of teenage girls who are abducted and the importance of leaning on God in times of turmoil, and in the simple and complex everyday situations we face. There is a powerful message woven throughout the book about...more

This book is kind of interesting. It really grabs my attention. Some parts are shocking however. They start off the book in an intersting way and reall go into detail, but just enough detail on things. Its pretty enjoyable so far.
