I cried through this entire book but it was really good!
Because I’m a sucker for all things Titanic, I grabbed this book from the library booksale shelf several years ago. This is the first Danielle Steel novel I’ve read. I liked it a lot because of the subject material, because it falls into my favorite genre (historical fiction), but mostly because it was a really good story. Edwina’s unselfish care of her siblings after the deaths of her parents and fiancé is heartbreakingly beautiful. She never thinks of all that she is missing in life except in...more
A minha opinião:
Ne...more

Oddly enough, I actually felt like reading Danielle Steel last night! Although I own at least ten of her books, she is not an author I read often, and in this case, actually reread. I enjoy her books, but it's a kind of guilty pleasure, like watching days of our lives or something. But still, I read it in one sitting, so it's all good.

Firstly, the Titanic disaster has always been something I read about with deep sadness, and this book is no exception. The first time I read this book I was in tea...more

if titanic got you bawling at the top of your lungs, this will make you want to scream all the more. packed with a very well-written plot centering on the effect on an innocent family due to the very tragic TITANIC accident decades ago, this book will make you rethink of your own actions. it will make you wonder if you really did the right decision. you'll fall in love with edwina.. the main character. you gotta love her spirit and her zest for bringing up her younger brothers and sisters while...more
A story about the 'perfect' family and what happens to them after the sinking of the Titanic. Rather predictable and very simplistically written, which makes for a very fast and easy read. You feel bad for the family and all that the children endure during the sinking. But as their lives move on the story just gets a little grating on how the eldest daughter struggles to keep the family together. It is a nice story of overcoming fears and prejudices.
if u love the TITANIC, then read it. It is all about a girl who had to carry out the responsibility of her parent, who drown in The Titanic. Not only her parent but also her fiance, she carried his death in her mind till she met a cousin of his, who later 'set her free'.
It's a novel full of suspence, love, emotoins, death, mischieves ...
Cant say enough, just get urs and u will never regret it. But get ready for tears.
great read.........loved it. Daniell Steel is one of my favorite Authors. When she writes, it is like being right there through the whole story.

I'm not able to think straight yet. All I can say is that even though I cried my eyes out for probably 80% of the book, and I hated the fact that while reading the back cover of the book I found out pretty much everything that was gonna happen, I still love this book very much! I don't know, I'm a sucker for tragedy, but in this case, it was Edwina's strong personality and her capacity to go on and be strong for her family even when all she wanted to do was cry was really empowering and touching...more

I cried all the way through, it is a good book

I read Danielle Steel when I just want an easy, quick read. Her subject matter usually holds my interest, but the overall plot and writing is conducive to a beach or airplane read--helping to pass the time, but not deeply intellectual. I read this book just prior to going on my own cruise. I did not examine the book closely enough before I started reading. The thoughts of a shipwreck, albeit a fictionalized account of a historical disaster many years previously, did not set with me when I embark...more

This was a borrowed book from when I was begging for anything to read.

I really enjoyed the love and togetherness of the six children. They truly love each other and would die for any one of their siblings.

I was very interested during the first part of the book where she described their story of being aboard the Titanic and the sinking and how they coped without their parents. What lost me was when it started talking about the details of The Great War, but I've never been big on history. I became...more

I am not a huge Danielle Steel fan, but I have to list this as one of my favorite books of all time. It was the first book I read for just pure pleasure. I read this book the summer before I was a sophomore in college and it still remains one of my favorites. I loved the richness of the characters and the passage of time in the book through the Titanic, World War 1, etc.

Okay no one can say that this is not a good book! All her books are really good but they are just too dramatic and melancholic for me:(
I have to give her a high rating though!
I just prefer a book that would put me in a good mood at least by its end! I don't mind shedding some tears in books but in hers it is sobs!! Lol her books though masterfully written always leave me in a weepy mood :( I know that this means she's a great author and she really is ,to the extent that you feel you're living i...more
I don't know what it is about this book but I love it. The writing is crap, the plot is predictable if you are over the age of 12 (which i barely was the first time i read it so i have an excuse for buying into it the first few times...), the ending is cheesy beyond belief - yet somehow i have managed to read it more than 20 times over the past ten years or so.

For the record, this is the ONLY Danielle Steele book I have EVER read but i imagine they are all pretty much the same. This one is abou...more

I have always been fascinated with anything having to do with the "Titanic." Ineresting read. I enjoyed it very much.
Kisahnya tentang duka mendalam keluarga korban kapal Titanic.
I have always been facinated with the story of the Titanic, but I got to see a different side of it throught the eyes of Danielle Steel. I had not read any of her books before, until i came across this one a few years ago. The story is riveting, moving, and touching. Even though it's a fictional familt, she made it real to me, I could actually visualize myself back on that ship, her discriptions and stories of its passengers were so real...I know the Titanic was only in the story in the beginnin...more

Fell in love with one of the characters, and removing him from the story made me cry so much, it's like I lost my first love.

This book made me cry really hard. I read it two years ago but I still feel sad whenever I remember the story. I cried then stop after a few minutes, then after turning a few pages I would start crying again. I really felt sorry about the girl, Edwina. She experienced too much tragedy. If I was her, I don't know if I can survive. The story was just too touching that for weeks after reading this I can't get the story out of my mind. If Nicholas Sparks and James Patterson made me cry, Danielle Ste...more

Edwina and her two siblings survived the sinking of the Titanic but her parents and her beau did not.
She took over the family owned newspaper in Boston when her brother did not want anything to do with it. He wanted to become an actor. She devoted her life to raising her sister and brother and taking care of all their needs but neglecting her own.
Edwina was still in love with her past and couldn't or wouldn't move forward. As years passed, would she change?
This was a very touching story,
Joneita Kelly
This historical fiction book is based on a young women who survives the sinking of the Titanic and the loss of her parents. It then goes on to tell the story of her life afterword and her struggles raising her younger siblings.

My mother is a huge Danielle Steel fan, and I was looking for a book to read one day and he handed me this one. I was unsure at first as I have always been more of a non-fiction book reader, but was surprised that I enjoyed this book.

Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for...more
