He arrived out of the blue—a flesh-and-blood phantom from the past in a sports car as sleek and sexy as Law Kincaid himself. The world-famous astronaut was as devastatingly attractive as the first time Marnie Hibbs had laid eyes on him, seventeen years before. But she well knew the perils of falling for a ladies’ man like Law

Yes, it did come across as a bit dated. The hero was a bit of a jerk. Usually I like that but he came across as being a bit spoiled.

I liked Marnie and David.

How can a telephone look "recently installed"? This was quick read that was borderline ridiculous in a lot of ways. Ok. It wasn't THAT bad.

The 80s references were nostalgic. There was no cheating although having some chicky rub up against the H is still annoying to read.

Despite the good, there was an awful lot to swallow to get through this book, and I couldn't buy most of it especially the speed with which the son takes to his father. You know, the one who had been absent for the first 15 years

This is my first Sandra Brown book and I really quite enjoyed it. It was quick and sweet. Just what I needed at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pacing was fast, I loved that!
This book was originally wrote in 1983...so there are a few things I had to chuckle about. Like her son has a poster of Christy Brinkley on his wall. I thought that was so funny!
Anyway it's a really sweet romance. There were times when I was bawling like a baby...I was thinking...God what's wrong with me?! But all end

I also wish we had the 1/2 star option. Sometimes one is just too much.

Please don't ask me why I read something this awful. I'm not sure I want to live in a world where people write such trash and are able to get it published. We need more famines.

I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. It was a signed copy and arrived with Sunset Embrace.

I would probably rate this book 2.5 stars, not because it is bad, just a little dated and cheesy. Overall, it was a nice little diversion on a cold winter's day. I don't usually read these kinds of novels.

I found that I was annoyed with both main characters. The most likable character in this story was David, the 16 year old son.

this is my first SB and I really love it.
jarang-jarang ada cewek kayak Marnie yang rela ngorbanin masa remajanya buat ngurus anak kakaknya karna kakaknya terlalu gak peduli dan akhirnya meninggal karna kecelakaan, belum lagi harus ngurus ayahnya yang menderita penyakit jantung sebelum akhirnya meninggal, trus ibunya yang terserang stroke karna stress akibat ditinggal suami dan anak pertamanya.

ceritanya bener-bener bagus. Dari awal sampai akhir isinya menarik dan gak ngebosenin. kalo boleh dibila

This was a cute little romance story about a couple that meet when one was 14 (Marnie), the other was 23 (Law), the twist is that the older sister (16) was there too and she is the one with the summer romance with Law and ended up pregnant. The sister doesn't want the baby but the parents find out and intervene. She ends up having the baby, but never gives a damn about him, leaving Marnie to raise the child. The sister in her self destructive ways dies in an accident 4 years later.

Marnie Hibbs had been in love with Law Kincaid (a famous astronaut) since she first met him while on vacation with her family when she was 14. It is 17 years later and he has come to her place to confront her about the letters he has been receiving from her address threatening him and mentioning that he has a child that he knew nothing about.

I loved Law from the start and at first Marnie was okay too, but as the book progressed she was too much of a martyr and I did not enjoy her.

Note: This review comes with a number of caveats. First, the book was written in the 80s when many of the themes inherent in this novel were commonplace. The story feels dated, and that partially accounts for my low rating. Second, I listened to this novel on Audible. I rarely enjoy audiobooks but I needed something short and light to listen to while cleaning my closet. Perhaps it would have garnered one more star if I had read the book in print.

Review:

I cannot recommend this novel. The hero w

This was the first Sandra Brown book that I have read, as far as I can remember. In this story, Marnie is single woman taking care of her teenaged nephew, David. David does not know his father, and his mother died in a car accident when he was very young. Their life is pleasant, though. Marnie’s world is shaken, though, when David’s famous astronaut father, Law, shows up unexpectedly on her doorstep because he received anonymous letters leading him there. Unbeknowst to Law, Marnie has had a crus ...more

~giggle~ I definitely liked this book but have now decided that I prefer to read romance rather than listen to it. It seemed sillier when I listened and it's impossible for me not to giggle at narrated sex scenes. It's very mature of me, I know, but I cannot help myself. Predictable, yes? Entertaining, of course.

Marnie Hibbs is a self employed graphic artist rearing a teenage son. Law Kincaid is an astronaut, graduate of the Naval Academy, test pilot, speed demon and all around good time Charlie. He searches out Marnie at her home because he has received anonymous threatening letters with her home as the return address stating that he had better acknow- ledge his son born out of wedlock. Just after he graduated from the USNA, he spent the summer in Galveston and there slept with Marnie's 16 year old sis ...more

Great book by one of my favorite authors. Story is "dated", but not a problem, 80's setting - 1988 or '89. I found myself relating a lot to the main character, Marnie Hibbs. Seldom do I ever read a book more than once, but this is one I could reread in the future.

Long Time Coming is a romance novel by Sandra Brown. I received a free copy from the Goodreads Giveaway Program. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It’s a quick read, only 197 pages, and relatively short compared to her crime novels. I had never read a pure romance novel by Sandra before, so it was a new experience for me. The story-line is okay, but personally I’m not a fan of the male lead being that much older, eight years in this case, than the woman in a non-historical love story. The romance is s ...more

I liked this little book. Astronauts are not the big thing in the 2000's as they were in the 1980's but hero worship for teen boys will never die so it believable that David could form an attachment for Law Kincaid, but to the extent he does in this book? I don't know.

Law Kincaid is David's father because of a summer fling with a 16-year old. He didn't know about the boy until he receives and anonymous letter and comes charging down on Marnie Hibbs. Marnie, David's adoptive mother is actually h

I received this through GoodReads FirstReads.

I knew this was a romance, but I was expecting it to look more like a Nora Roberts than a Mills & Boon. Still, I was determined to read it though my expectations were considerably lowered by the cover. It seems a terrible thing to say, but I'm not generally a pure romance kind of girl and that's the best that can be said about Mills & Boon in terms of plot.

The beginning was far better than I expected and drew me in. I cared about the main char

Long time coming was a wonderful read. The characters were regular people one might meet in their own neighborhood. The harsh truth of her sister’s actions from the past which shaped all of their lives was refreshing. It was believable and brought out compassion within me. I loved how this book was not a sugary, romantic perfect ending. It had genuine life in it. The steps they all took to arrive at the ending was not hurried or slow motion, but perfection. 3.5 stars. Overall this book was good. However certain parts rubbed me the wrong way. The male being over 18 basically raped a 16 yo. Yes it was rape he was a full grown man well over 18. Then lusting over the 14 yo that he wished he slept with her instead. How and the world would a judge give custody of a 4 year old when the grandparents were alive made zero sense to me.
