Personal Reaction: I like this book a lot because the story is engaging and also based on a true story. The illustrations really bring the book to life, so they enhance the story.

Read aloud to 3rd through 5th grade students. This story would be read aloud for enjoyment as well as informational purposes. This story is about Johann Sebastian Bach as a little boy, and how he views himself as the greatest organist in all of Germany. His determination to see Reincken perform and to find out

An easy to follow introduction of one of the greatest musical genius' of all time! It gives some solid background information and elaborates on a story of how Bach came to be a student of Adam Reincken. The lively illustrations gives children a peek into the past and gives a famous name they've probably heard before a face. This could easily be used in the classroom for a small biography assignment for grades 2nd or 3rd.

I quite enjoyed this story. Who's to say what really happened to Bach? but this story gets me inspired.

A delightful introduction and overview of the early part of Bach's life in a format and story line that is not only easy to follow, but enjoyable as well. It combines humor with history and our young family asking questions and wanting to know more! We felt like Bach was a real person after reading this story rather than just a famous name.
