I've read sections here and there from this book, but never actually read it cover to cover. In fact, I purchased it in 1998 while writing a story for my nieces and nephews about their great grandmother, as a way of overcoming my grief at her passing, and also because some of them had known her as an forgetful "old" lady, and were shocked when they saw old home movies of her skipping rope when I was about 5. I felt I needed to tell them the stories she had told me of her childhood.

I have enjoyed reading this book. It has helped me with some of the problems I have been countering in writing my book. It answered some of my questions and is helping me to get going with my book.
Sue Bridehead (A Pseudonym)
Very helpful and definitely worth having on hand when you're ready to write. The biggest takeaway lesson I got from this is that kids like to read about characters 2-3 years older than they are.
