I've read sections here and there from this book, but never actually read it cover to cover. In fact, I purchased it in 1998 while writing a story for my nieces and nephews about their great grandmother, as a way of overcoming my grief at her passing, and also because some of them had known her as an forgetful "old" lady, and were shocked when they saw old home movies of her skipping rope when I was about 5. I felt I needed to tell them the stories she had told me of her childhood.
