This is a hard book to review, but I’ll give it a shot. Quick breakdown: for me, the most compelling selections were from the first three books (In A White Light, None, River, and Ruby For Grief). In particular, the poems from Ruby for Grief are wonderful. I’ll read this whole collection for sure. I felt a little frustrated at times in the middle sections, and then more enthusiastic at the end, especially for the new uncollected poems. He graduated from Hobart College and from the Iowa Writers' Workshop with an MFA in 1973.
