The Travels of Mark Twain is an anthology of journal and travel writing Twain did throughout his life. I got it as a gift from my sister Erin years ago but only read it recently, a belated kudos to Erin for getting me such a great gift. The anthology is expertly edited by Charles Neider who must've put a lot of time and effort into selecting the right variety of excerpts about such things as these: getting a shave, being a riverboat pilot, meeting heads of state, and breaking quarantine.

This is a collection of stories from Twain's travel books, including Roughing It, Following the Equator and Innocents Abroad. It's a fascinating journey, written with Twain's trademark humor. It's amazing that 100 years ago, travelers were just as fascinated by some of the same landmarks we travel to see today.
