For what it was, this book was totally fabulous. If you disagree, that just proves how much more fabulous I am than you.
This book wasn't highly applicable to me, but it was highly entertaining, and it took me all of, um, 2 hours to read basically the entire thing (I did skim the section on wine pairings, but I think that's excusable considering my entire circle of friends and aquaintances is dry). Anyway, it's basically a big, easy-to-read magazine.

I thought this as going to be a piece of puff. While the writing is casual, the information is exquisite. I would highly recommend this book for any teenager (or adult for that matter) who appears to be going off the rails grammatically, sartorially, behaviorally, in culinary matters, etc. His writing style is pithy and contains much wisdom.

Also, there are some amazing hors d''oeuvres recipes in here and I'm here to tell you, those things are difficult to find.

Clinton Kelly is the acerbic male co-host of TV's popular "What Not to Wear." His background in fashion makes him a hit on the show, and he's obviously experienced in showing people how to dress themselves for the best effect. In this book, Kelly takes advantage of his masters' degree in journalism to write an outstanding piece. He provides advice on everything from foolproof recipes (provided) to grammar (my favorite part of the book, as he touches specifically on some of my pet pe...more

If you’ve visited the bookstore this week, you’ve seen the staff pick New Year’s resolution books behind the counter. Since I feel the need for improvement on so many levels, I chose Freakin’ Fabulous, because it covers a myriad of subjects, from “how to dress” through “how to behave,” to “how to decorate.” Even better, while the information is good and practical, it’s delivered in Kelly’s trademark fabulous (read “ridiculously funny”) style> I love that he shares ...more

I'm so TV clueless that I had no idea who this guy was until I opened the book. And I'm so glad I did! I don't normally read stuff like this but after browsing a few pages, I had to finish. I found myself reading chapters I didn't even care about just so I could laugh at Clinton Kelly's writing. I don't like the "...Be Better Than Everyone Else" part in the title and I'm wondering if it wasn't the publisher's idea. Mr. Kelly genuinely seems to want to teach people a little respect...more

Clinton is a good writer. I didn't expect that. Of course, that was when I didn't know he had a Master's in journalism. The book is both entertaining and informative, fit for mass consumption as well as those actually looking to improve themselves. I find myself in the latter category. I really enjoyed the Queer Eye guide to style and I was hoping this would be more of the same. While this book has been rumored to be for women, I wasn't disappointed.

Clinton is heavy on the advice for...more

I finished this book last night in my closet at 2:30 AM. I went in there to get down on all fours and stick my butt in the air, the only way I could force this soon to be born baby (with the power of gravity) off of a giant nerve ending in my crotch. This book would lie open by itself on my floor. I also drank a big bottle of water (I know, dumb!) while reading it, and had to get up like 7 times to pee before Benjamin came and woke me up this morning at 7:30. My husband stayed in bed until about...more

My non-fabulous moment: I ate a donut this morning. I was wearing a tank top under a scoopneck t-shirt. Well, certain chest areas get a little (A LOT) bigger when you are pregnant and mine has become a catch-all for crumbs. Remember that.

I ate the donut at 8:30 am. About 11 am, after a whole parade of people had come by my office, I happened to walk by a window. I always peek at my reflection, just to see how fabulous I am. Somehow a great big crumb of cinnamon sugar had fal...more

Fluffy and glossy as a magazine, and about as informative. Clinton's view of being fabulous is divided into several sections including dress, cooking, entertaining, drinking, etiquette, and more. The sections on clothing and etiquette were the most useful and interesting and I wish they would have been expanded on instead of the breezy mention of all the other topics. Or maybe I'm just a hater. It was still fun.

Good God, this is my new Bible. Witty, hilarious, and surprisingly informative.
I have read a LOT of etiquette books, recipe books, decorating books, and entertaining books, but none of them have been even close to this amusing, and interestingly enough, none of them have been as effective as Freackin' Fabulous either. I mean, the chapters, tips, and instructions are succinct, easy to remember, and super easy to understand.
What a treat!

I highly recommend this book if for no other reason than it was very very funny. When I started reading I did not expect it to be funny but I laughed out loud at least every few pages. The book offers fun and simple advice on how to be fabulous. This includes how to throw a party, dress, cook, and drink. The book is also very easy to read and has a lot of great recipe ideas.

Truly fabulous people say "fucking" instead of "freakin'" (or they think of another title) because they know that actual curse words have gonads and that excuses "freak" and "frig" and "frak" and "darn" and "dang" and "damb" are neuter cop-outs. They also know that no fabulous person ever drops a "g."

Kelly is a funny man.

I love Clinton Kelly from TLC's What Not to Wear, and his book is really fun. If you are a fan of the show, his personality really comes through in Freakin' Fabulous. The book is a weird mixture of style, entertaining, proper grammar, and recipes, but it made for a relaxing bedtime read. Check it out for fun.

I learned that there are times when you can put your elbows on the dinner table...and that's about it. I love Clinton Kelly on What Not to Wear, and his book has a great sense of humor and sarcastic funny tone, but it was a quick read without a lot of substance for me

I think that Clinton Kelly is 10 times funnier when he writes than when he's on What Not To Wear. He offers up his usual clothing advice, as well as tips on how to throw a party, roast a chicken and embrace your tears while chopping onions.

Some parts, such as the "How to Dress" and "how to Decorate" sections were helpful, but Clinton comes off as someone who looks down upon those who do not always meet his standards of being fabulous. However, the graphic design and smart comments were very enjoyable.

This was an entertaining book to read about, well, how to entertain! Clinton Kelly had some yummy recipes in there and lots of great advice given in a funny way so as not to seem too overwhelming. I had fun reading this book.
