Being a huge supporter of military families and the life of sacrifice that they live, I was hooked by this story from the first line. I always fear for my guys when they get deployed and leave behind their families, especially those with pregnant wives. I pray for a safe return and for them to be blessed with the chance to hold their unborn babies upon their return.

The brief introduction was a grabber (military husband dies in duty, pregnant wife at home, husband's military buddy badly injured, clinging to life, reads wife's love letters, and falls in love with her)! My ears were definitely glued to the earphones. Then not too long into the story, Trevor had to be a louse and lied to Kyla from day one. Above and Beyond opens with Kyla giving birth to her son Aaron and then getting the news that her Marine husband may have died in a blast.

At first when the book opens you see a young woman named Kyla who has just given birth to a baby boy. Her husband, Richard, is currently overseas in the Marines and has just been pronounced missing or harmed due to a terrorist attack in his location. She learns that her husband has been pronounced dead and then realizes that she has to make it alone with a new baby. I like to alternate my reading experiences with various genres, and now and then I hope to find the ultimate romantic story. So I started Sandra Brown’s Above & Beyond with optimism, but soon found out that it was a very lightweight attempt. Luckily it was also a rather small book and it only took me 2 to 3 evenings to get through it. Upon first listening to the narrator Jack Garrett I couldn't help a smile and a giggle. His voice is so very 1990's Danielle Steel-ish. Smooth and sexy. I knew this book was going to be fun.
The dialogue is a bit dated. Really. Nobody talks like that. Not even in their inner dialogue they aren't that cheesy, but that doesn't mean that the story line isn't good. It just took a bit of getting used to. Once I was acquainted with the narrator and the feeling of this story we were off and running.

Surat cinta memang seru buat di jadikan cerita, dan Sandra Brown meramu nya dalam kisah menarik dan seksi ini.

I enjoyed listening to this story. Trevor was a terrific guy, even though he was not up front with Kyla as to exactly who he was. I could understand to a degree why Kyla wanted to be faithful to the memory of Richard but I would have preferred if it had been discussed that just because she may fall in love with another does not mean she would forget the love she had for Richard. It had a happy ending and for me that's important

I didn't love it. Not really one of her best works. For me there wasn't as much emotion although the whole I-can't-forget-about-my-husband inner conflict that Kyla goes through was interesting. I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, perhaps a couple more pages to tie it up wouldve been better but not a bad book
I almost felt guilty reading this, but it sucked me in. It was way too in detail on the romance part, but that came after I was into the story. I had to finish it to see what happened and how it ended. I loved How sweet Trevor was to Kyla and Aaron. Definitely for adults only.
I'm always a sucker for a romance where the male is a military guy. While I think Brown's romantic suspense are also solid three stars I feel I should say that her romance are also solid three stars but in a different way. It's all about what you are looking for... If you are looking for either, she won't let you down.

I had read this book once before and forgot. It was still a fun book though not like Sandra Brown's usual mystery romances. It was one of her earlier books and strictly romance.
i thought it was plain and not a very memorable book overall. Not my favorite Sandra Brown book
I had a physical reaction to this book - and NOT the good kind. No more romances for me this year.

HONOR!!
A great book. Deffantly in the top 5 of my Sandra Brown books. This was the second Brown book that I read, and picked it because it had a soldier in it. I know the bit of falling in love from another man's love letters is a bit crazy, but there is something oddly romantic about it. I mean he fell inlove with a women by how she wrote. I absolutly loved the end of this book when Kyla threw the letter Trevor was reading into the fire, it was pure perfection. I loved every minute of this book!
