The book was given to me as a gift from a friend of mine while I was living in Korea. It is an interesting collection of stories about the whole mystical side to Korean culture and why some stil are very supersticious. It also tells an amazing story about a woman who was in-poverty as a child, abandoned by her father, betrayed by her lover and lied to by her husband to be. More often than not, Yongsu's mother is a very well intentioned and compassionate woman who becomes a great-storyteller.
This is a good preliminary book if you want an insight into the life of a Korena Shaman. Nothing new in terms of penmanship but the subject of the book is quite interesting especially if one wants to get a beginners idea of korean culture.
excellent introduction to ethnography, memoir and autobiography, as told by a female shaman and her anthropologist. wacky at times.

the author's interviews with this woman have been soooo useful.
Fascinating . . . if you're interested in Korean shamanism.
