I'm a long time fan of Sandra Brown. Send No Flowers is one of her earlier (80s, I think) romance titles. It's a sweet story but there were a couple of parts I found unrealistic about the story. The first of which being the mother letting a stranger sleep in the same bed, alone, with her child. I just had a hard time imaging someone who would do that. The next day, she lets the man drive her kids somewhere alone. The final thing that stopped me from enjoying this book as much as I otherwise woul ...more

2.5* Another quick, and dated, series romance by Brown. Parts of this I really liked, but as with Demon Rumm, I felt the angst was overblown given the situation. But, as I said, I liked parts of this really well, including the characters, so I'm satisfied.

Cute short read!
The plot was good, if a liitle predicted, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Sandra Brown has a way with words, and the reader just feels part of the scene.
Despite not using any crude words, but only suble ones, the reader could feel the eroticism of the situations described.
I loves the characters, and how they actually had characters. Each one had his or her own reactions, language, etc.
Sandra Brown is a great author, and it doesn't matter if the genre she chooses to write is romance

This another of Sandra Brown's good books. I especially enjoy her "stranded" themes.

When a terrible thunderstorm threatens to ruin Alicia Russell's camping trip with her boys a man named Pierce comes to the rescue. Right from the start the two adults begin to fall in love, but Alicia isn't looking for a one night stand. Pierce is hiding something and Alicia knows it but asking him would mean crossing the privacy line. It is a classic romance that catches the reader from the very first page.

I got this book from Goodreads First Reads.

I didn't know exactly what to expect about this book, I only knew it was an 80's romance novel, so I started reading it accordingly. And I liked it.

It's about a widow, her two little boys in an awful situation away from home in a cabin, a mysterious man comes in to help. They feel sexual tension since day one.

I thought it had a lot of clichéd moments, but then again, I remembered when this book was written, and I didn't mind. The author's writing was lo

This is a sappy romance with mysterious overtones. It is also 30 years old and is showing it's age. Usually that doesn't bother me, but it did this time. I am not a fan of Sandra Brown's early romances and this one just confirms that. Why I keep picking them up is a mystery to me.

Alicia lost her husband three years ago and was left with two small boys to raise. Not an easy task. They take off for the mountains for a week of back to nature time in the cabin of a friend. They arrive in the middle

Recommends it for: Poeple into romance

The book Send No Flowers is on a woman named Alicia Russell and her two sons. In the book one is told how Alicia’s husband passed away. Since the death of her husband Alicia Russell has encountered many struggles to take care of her two sons. Now that she has lost her husband she is willing to face life independently. Suddenly, a storm threatens their family camping trip; the three of them are caught in a storm and are rescued by a so called "stranger” named Pierce Reynolds. He’s a man not willi

This was a very quick read, and I have to admit, I did enjoy it. Although it was very predictable, I enjoyed the characters and the real descriptions of the parts with her two boys . The embarrassing things that come out of their mouths was very real. Although I was was rooting for them to get together, I was amazed how many times she took him back after what he said about it was over. The theme that love is a risk worth taking, prevails.

This was a quick and satisfying read. Yes, it was fairly predictable. I guessed Pierce's secret right off the bat. Yes it was a bit dated, Alicia could have been more independent. The boys were very realistic, mischievous little boys who get into everything. The relationship between Pierce and his daughter was nice to watch as it developed, even though issues seemed resolved rather quickly. All of this gets the book a three star rating. The fourth star comes from the relationship between Pierce ...more

I received this book from goodreads.com giveaways page.
This is basically a formula love story, but because I enjoyed it so much, I am giving it four stars.
The heroine is very likeable, and her two little boys are cute, with enough mischief in them to make them believable.
Pierce is somewhat a cardboard cutout, but I must admit I didn't guess his secret. His daughter is a pleasing additional character, as are Alicia's friends Carter and Sloan.
The sex scenes are written well, without

While I was reading Breakfast in Bed, I couldn't help but feel a strong distaste (ain't that an euphemism of the decade) towards Alicia. Since I didn't like that book in particular, I was kind of afraid what this story would be like.

Alicia was previously described as horrible, weak and pathetic woman, one that can't seem to gather strength to face life. Tough, since she's a widow and a mother of two.
Well, at least there's some improvement here. She seems a bit stronger and а bit more likable. Th

Send No Flowers was a light hearted and easy read but the story was fairly predictable. I'd guessed Pierce's secret and the reason he didn't want to get into a relationship fairly early on and was proved correct when it was finally revealed near the end of the book. To be honest I got a bit fed up with the way he was constantly pushing Alicia away and annoyed with her that she kept letting him come back for more without demanding an explanation for his behaviour.

Although the story is predictable

I want to first say thank you to goodreads first reads and Sandra Brown for letting me be able to win this book.
The first thing that I thought was awesome was the book is short. I mean this not in a bad way. I feel that the story felt complete. Also, I like that the story deals with the issues it deals with and how it is handled. It seemed somewhat realistic. Nonetheless, I felt the main characters romance was love at first sightish which I do not like. I wish that the romance was built. A littl

Loved this book. I read some of her books before always liked them. This is a quick read and a little sad then happy. It is predictable, but a very good read. Typical romance book with a happy ending but the plot is good and so are the characters in the book.

This is a really hot romantic novel. The writer is a master storyteller and an expert wordsmith. The USP of the romantic novelist is to keep the reader turning the pages because the conventional romantic novel always requires a happy ending. The plot involves a pretty young widow with two sons who is rescued from disaster by a handsome stranger. The two fall in love, but there is something preventing their getting together which is not revealed too early. So you keep turning those pages to find ...more

This is the second book I've read form Sandra Brown and she surely did not disappoint.

The heroine, Alicia Russell is admirable as she took care of two adorable and talkable sons(David and Adam) after becoming a widow at quite a young age.

The hero, Pierce Reynolds is strong and adapt to being a father figure for the boys instantly although he wasnt one for his only daughter, chrissy- who I loved as soon as she was introduced- during her childhood. However Pierce decided to make a decesion about

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

It's a cutely outdated romance. I can't believe how much changes 30 years brought in our mores and behaviours. I really wanted to shake the main characters out of their hang-ups.

It's a sweet little story only if you can get over the stereotypical gender roles which this book is steeped in.

As this book is my first win as a first-read from Giveaway, I started it instantly as I opened up the USP bag. On the way I realized that it is a hot romantic book, with feeble story line. The book is short and hooked me on from the first page, till the finishing line.

The main character line has a young, beautiful widow, and a handsome athletic built man with no women in his life. They fell in love at the first sight of them, but are veiling their minds, for own separate reasons. By the course l

The author succeeded in her aim with this book according to the authors note. I was entertained for a few hours and at times it occasionally evoked warm glowing feelings. I liked the dynamics between the characters and the overall premise. I wasn't so sure it was totally realistic, but, eh, it was interesting, although perhaps more, detailed scenes, then I expected for such a short book. Near the end I felt some of the resolution was a bit too cliche.

I got an copy of this through Goodreads giveaways to give an honest review.

This book was better than the first one, it had a bit more depth. The plot is character driven and I like the side characters more than the main characters. I liked this book better because i already knew some of the characters and that made the story feel more complex. The characters annoyed me sometimes, I did not like the way they acted and there was really a lack of communication. Overall I enjoyed the story and it wa

Thanks to Goodreads for sending this!

Having never read any Sandra Brown before, I was excited for this. The story itself was lighthearted and easy to get into it, focusing on a young widow and her romance with an athletic guy. I managed to finish it in a day, but the main downfall was that I thought it was also rather predictable. I do think certain people will enjoy this book and although it wasn't the best for me, I would still recommend it to people who are into period books and light romance
