******SPOILER ALERT********

I realize that this book was published in 1984 and time's have changed and so have women's outlook on their lives. But I could not get over the blatant use of stereotypical gender roles in this book. I don't think I've ever read anything before that ever made me want to put the book down and never pick it up again because the writing offended me More...

This is a really hot romantic novel. The writer is a master storyteller and an expert wordsmith. The USP of the romantic novelist is to keep the reader turning the pages because the conventional romantic novel always requires a happy ending. The plot involves a pretty young widow with two sons who is rescued from disaster by a handsome stranger. The two fall in love, but there is something preventing their getting together which is not revealed too early. So you keep turning those pages to More...

I want to first say thank you to goodreads first reads and Sandra Brown for letting me be able to win this book.
The first thing that I thought was awesome was the book is short. I mean this not in a bad way. I feel that the story felt complete. Also, I like that the story deals with the issues it deals with and how it is handled. It seemed somewhat realistic. Nonetheless, I felt the main characters romance was love at first sightish which I do not like. I wish that the romance was built. A More...

Send No Flowers
I received this book from goodreads.com giveaways page.
This is basically a formula love story, but because I enjoyed it so much, I am giving it four stars.
The heroine is very likeable, and her two little boys are cute, with enough mischief in them to make them believable.
Pierce is somewhat a cardboard cutout, but I must admit I didn't guess his secret. His daughter is a pleasing additional character, as are Alicia's friends Carter and Sloan.
The sex sc More...

As this book is my first win as a first-read from Giveaway, I started it instantly as I opened up the USP bag. On the way I realized that it is a hot romantic book, with feeble story line. The book is short and hooked me on from the first page, till the finishing line.

The main character line has a young, beautiful widow, and a handsome athletic built man with no women in his life. They fell in love at the first sight of them, but are veiling their minds, for own separate reasons. By More...

The author succeeded in her aim with this book according to the authors note. I was entertained for a few hours and at times it occasionally evoked warm glowing feelings. I liked the dynamics between the characters and the overall premise. I wasn't so sure it was totally realistic, but, eh, it was interesting, although perhaps more, detailed scenes, then I expected for such a short book. Near the end I felt some of the resolution was a bit too cliche.

Cleverly romantic and a very good read. Sandra Brown has cemented herself as one of my top ten favourite authors. She brings such talent to the written word and her way of expressing the characters through words brings them to life in one's imagination. You simply get caught up in them. That's one of the things that makes a book attractive to read. This book's really worth the five star review in my opinion.

This book was sent to me free if I would review it. The writing was predictable and the love scenes were all but pornographic. She made good use of her Thesaurus, using words like bedraggled, inauspicious, imbecilic, and dickering and those are all in Chapter One! For a story set in current day, no one uses words like that in everyday conversation.

i loved it......i finished reading it the day i got it.....couldn't help myself.......the book had a feel of 1980's even though the year hasn't been mentioned anywhere......the plot was not something unheard of but the writing style and the characters made it seem intriguing, funny and romantic and i loved every page of the book.......

Send No Flowers was a light hearted and easy read but the story was fairly predictable. I'd guessed Pierce's secret and the reason he didn't want to get into a relationship fairly early on and was proved correct when it was finally revealed near the end of the book. To be honest I got a bit fed up with the way he was constantly pushing Alicia away and annoyed with her that she kept letting him come back for more without demanding an explanation for his behaviour.

Although the story More...

This was my first Sandra Brown book and I just loved it! It’s a beautiful love story about a woman who has lost her husband and finds love again for her and her sons. The romance was excellent and the characters were easy to relate to and fall in love with. The author certainly succeeded by leaving a warm, glowing feeling in me when I finished the book. I will certainly be reading more Sandra Brown books! Thank you for the Good Reads book!

2.5* Another quick, and dated, series romance by Brown. Parts of this I really liked, but as with Demon Rumm, I felt the angst was overblown given the situation. But, as I said, I liked parts of this really well, including the characters, so I'm satisfied.

This was my first Sandra Brown book and I thought the romance was excellent. The story was intriguing and the characters were all so likable. Pierce was such a great father figure to the boys. Definitely a read for mature audiences :) Thanks for the first reads win!

This is a true romance by Brown. I have read most of her romantic suspense but wanted to get taste for some of her first books that fall under Loveswept. It's classic romance and she does it very well. Really enjoed this.

A widow and her 2 young sons rent a cabin. A storm damages the cabin and the neighbor, Pierce offers his cabin to them. So without me telling the whole story you have to read it. It's a love story.

This is another classic romance from Brown. I liked the characters and storyline in Send No Flowers. While there are no surprises in the storyline, that is the formula for this type of book and is why you read it. It's definitely a good read.
