I won this book through Goodreads First Reads contest.

I really enjoyed this book--I could not put it down and read it in about 3 hours. That said, after I finished reading it and took the time to think over the plot, I found the premise to be completely unbelievable, even though the author tries to provide an explanation for everything.

Ria and Taylor meet on Christmas Eve and can't resist one another. Even though Ria has never had a one night stand before, she makes an exception for Taylor. Eigh...more

I have been meaning to give this author a try as my friends here on GR's are so often giving her great reviews. I actually won this book through GR's giveaways, so I was really excited to give it a try. Now this book was originally published in '99 and was re-released for the holiday I guess. It was a part of Brown's Loveswept series so it's a pure romance not a romantic suspense like some of her other books.

Ria Lavender is an architect who discovers that after a one-night stand, with a man she...more

Enjoyed it, was quite different with a heroine who was successful & the way she told the hero about the pregnancy & was old fashioned enough to want to make her son legitimate. The hero did act out a bit in the start, mainly due to shock but countered they should get married now and not at the end. After marriage things go well for them but the heroine keeps attaching political aspirations to his actions & then things go wrong(view spoiler)[she has a mis-carriage (hide spoi...more

I liked the book up to the last couple of pages, in the end he adopts a baby with out even talking to her about it. It wasn't like she wasnt capable of having her own child after her misscarriage. I believe adopting kids is great but after a misscarriage I feel like it was insulting to her to adopt a kid behind her back... and presenting it as a gift? What the hell? Its like "Here honey, since you couldn't handle the job of birthing my baby. I decided to pick one up on the way home from work, ho...more

Tidings of Great Joy by Sandra Brown
Rhia tells him she's pregnant from their one night of lovemaking on Christmas Eve.
Taylor is a mayor elect. They decide to get married and worry
about the annulment later on. He wants to be married so he can
concentrate on the election. They will live at his house and
financially take care of them. She quit her job so it'd not
jeopardize his new career and be a conflict of interest. Maybe
she'd start her own firm in the art field.

Readers! Sandra Brown's romance novels are just that...a romance which sweeps you off your feet and makes you live in cloud number 9 for as long as your head is buried in this book. But once you are finished with reading her novels, I doubt if any of the characters live on in your memory...

A good pass time for sure, not recommended if you are looking for an intellectually stimulating story.
Or for that matter a good romance story..

Happy Reading!
Scherry :)

A very sweet and enjoyable book. Sometimes, though, it's a little too sweet and corny but at the same time that is what makes it a good read instead of all of the depressing books that seem to be popular nowadays. However, some of the dialog is hilarious.

I recommend this book to anyone who just wants a happy book with a few laughs and, for once, a happy ending.

I got this book in a giveaway along four others from the same author.

It starts as a rather typical romance in which the main character, Ria (Rhetta in the French version), becomes pregnant after a one-night stand. But there's a catch: she wants to marry the father, Taylor, and then divorce him. That's when the story becomes convoluted.

The book has several flaws. Ria's motivations for the marriage are feeble and both characters are confusing to read. Sometimes they seem to genuinely care for each...more

I originally read this book in the late 80s. I reread it every year at Christmas time and it remains one of my all time favorite holiday books. I love a story with a political theme and the hero in this book is a newly elected Mayor. There is a marriage of convenience, which makes for a fantastic story!

Cerita dalam buku ini sangat sederhana, hanya bercerita tentang kisah cinta antara kedua tokohnya, Ria Lavender dan Taylor MacKensie.

Keduanya memulai hubungan berdasarkan atas ketertarikan fisik.

Ria meragukan kesungguhan hati Taylor karena takut perka...more

Great gift! I like reading books that take place in different time periods (who didn't like the 80's/90's?). Although this storyline was a little predictable I enjoyed every word. Like a fairy tale for the holidays, it had a happy ending.

Pembaca merasa Taylor MacKensie memiliki sifat kontradiktif yang janggal. Tidak menyenangkan karena terlalu singkat, membuat Taylor dan Ria terlihat tidak memiliki kedalaman karakter.

I really liked it compared to the other books in this holiday genre I am exploring. Ups and downs of a love relationship with the complication of a baby! How cute!
Heather
OMG!!!! I really loved this book, it remains with me even today and it is one of few that I have read again. Yes this is a cliche 80's love story but I love it!
Kat
short, sweet, bittersweet, and full of holiday spirit, I ususally re-read this quick romance novel when I'm home for the holidays.

Good story, did not expect the tragedy in the middle. Good romance if you are in the mood for one!

It wasn't a bad book but it wasn't one of the grated either. But i liked it.

Tidings of Great Joy was a lovely holiday romance. I couldn't put it down. Thank you so much for my signed copy and the extra book Rainwater. I look forward to reading that as well!!

I normally like Sandra Browns work but this was a little to hokey for me.

Cerita di novel ini emg agak too good to be true ya, mana proses jatuh cintanya jg instant banget. Tapi pas baca, gw bs hanyut dalam kisah kasih Taylor & Ria, bs ngerasain chemistry dan emosi mereka. sooo 4,5 stars :)
Shara
The ending was a bit much but liked the rest of the story.

I loved this old-fashioned Christmas love story!!
Julie
A little racy, but a quick, fun read.
