Quite frankly, apart from the reputation thing, I don't see a huge problem here (there's obviously something wrong with me XD) I mean, she was stupid to go with him in the first place, but from all accounts it doesn't really seem like much of a kidnapping. Just the pretense of one. He didn't touch her or do anything untoward, they talked, played chess, and he had no intention of handing her over (just imagine if one...more At the risk of being bashed for my review; I hated Juliet. Quite frankly, apart from the reputation thing, I don't see a huge problem here (there's obviously something wrong with me XD) I mean, she was stupid to go with him in the first place, but from all accounts it doesn't really seem like much of a kidnapping. Just the pretense of one. He didn't touch her or do anything untoward, they talked, played chess, and he had no intention of handing her over (just imagine if one of Crouch's cronies had done the kidnapping instead). I've seen plenty of heroine's who still end up with their hero after some betrayal or another, and still end up with their hero after being abducted by someone out for revenge. Plus you know, there's the ones where the heroine still ends up with her hero even after he rapes her, so on the grand scale of things, a faux kidnapping (at first she didn't even know she was being kidnapped lol) doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Plus there's the novels where the heroine really is kidnapped and they still fall in love and get their HEA.

Fast forward to two years after the kidnapping and really, IDGI. They come charging in, they don't want revenge, they don't want money. Well what do they want??

Uh. Griff and Rosalind annoyed me, so I'll have to see what I feel toward them after I read their book (although I will admit to warming to them in the last chapter or so)

I hated Juliet. She was manipulative and childish, and just everything you love to hate in a heroine who only thinks about herself and never about the big picture. Of course, then when the big reveal comes, they feel really, really small.

Sebastian on the other hand, was one hell of a hero. Hell, where do I get me one?? I hated at the end he fell into Juliet's manipulations, when he'd been so good at resisting up until that point. Quite frankly, I think it was great he was doing everything he could to find his brother. It's not as if a woman would have done much differently (admittedly they wouldn't have the brute strength needed to abduct a man) but there's always ways XD

I kept wishing Juliet would just leave, and they wouldn't get their happily ever after. Because while Sebastian was trying to keep himself safe, his brother safe, and even Griff safe (by trying to keep him from calling Sebastian out), Juliet was playing little girl games, in an adult's world trying to get Sebastian to fess-up. Seriously, up until the whispers of a failed elopement, which didn't happen until TWO YEARS after the fact, nothing had happened to Juliet to make her ostrasized from society, and her family already (quite rightly in my opinion) believed her to be an idiot.

It would have been pretty awesome if Sebastian had been shot in the end, turning it into a tragedy which would have served Juliet right, for trying to get him to tell Griff anything before they were married, although she realized, albeit too late, that Sebastian had been right about postponing the tell all to everyong else.

Regardless, this was an enjoyable novel, and was witty and humourous in the appropriate places. The love scenes were a little glossed over, but the foreplay leading up to it was hot as.

Recommended to anyone who's interested with a 3.5/5 rating.(less)

I picked this book as I so often do because of the cover. The updated cover not the same one as this edition. I know it is a horrible habit of mine, but it hasn't come back to bite me in the ass just yet. I vaguely recall reading the blurb and finding it interesting, I bought the book along.

As I have mentioned, the story starts about 2 years after Juliet Laverick gets abducted by Morgan Pryce. Juliet, her brother-in-law Griff Knighton, and sister Rosalind (A Dangerous Love) are off to confront Morgan Pryce's brother Lord Templemore and demand to know where Morgan is so they can stop the rumors circulating around the ton that Juliet eloped with Morgan but was returned to her family, ruined. Who were they to see at Charnwood (Lord Templemore's estate) but Morgan himself! Apparently, Sebastian, Lord Templemore was masquerading as Morgan and was in fact the one who kidnapped Juliet! Of course, Sebastian did not admit to it when Juliet recognized him. So starts the sizzling cat-mouse game Juliet and Sebastian play as she tries to catch Sebastian in the act and make him admit that he is the one who abducted her. When Sebastian admits to her and not to her family, Juliet leaves him and goes back to London. Sebastian follows and proposes marriage again. The book ends with Juliet and Sebastian marrying, Morgan returning to England, and Rosalind giving birth to a baby.

After the Abduction is a really great read. Not one of the best by Ms. Jeffries but a great read. Without reading A Notorious Love, which was the book where Juliet was abducted, I was able to follow the story. I loved the tricks Juliet pulled to try to make Sebastian admit that he was Morgan, that he was the one she fell in love with all those years ago. Their banter was electric and I thought that they were perfect for each other. Another thing that I loved about the story was when Juliet demanded that Sebastian come clean with her family about the abduction. I thought this was realistic and fit with Juliet's family values. This was also a great way for Sebastian to redeem himself and prove his love to her.

What I do not like about this story was not Juliet but Rosalind. I thought she was irritating and just did not anything to the story. I wanted to skip through all the parts where she was acting irritatingly crazy because she wasn't able to conceive. I haven't read the first book and now, I am debating weather I will read it.

Namun begitu Juliet sangat yakin bahwa pria itulah yang dsebenarnya menculiknya dulu. Sang pria tidak mengakuinya dengan berbagai alasan dan berusaha menghindari Juliet yang bersama Rosalind dan Griff terpaksa menginap di rumah Lord Templemore tersebut karena cuaca yang tidak menentu.

Usaha Juliet untuk meminta pengakuan dari Sebastian inilah yang akhirnya menjadi inti utama cerita di buku ketiga ini. Sekali dua kali perdebatan antara Juliet dan Sebastian yang sama-sama keras kepala dengan pendirian masing-masing terasa cukup menarik untuk disimak, namun jika terjadi berulang kali lama kelamaan terasa membosankan. Bahkan saat rasa tertarik secara fisik membuat keduanya terlibat lebih intim, Sebastian tetap tidak mau mengaku sementara Juliet juga tidak mau menyerah untuk membuat pria itu mengakui perbuatannya dulu.

Alasan Sebastian tidak mau mengaku pada Juliet ada kaitan erat dengan masa lalunya yang membuatnya tidak percaya pada cinta dan berkeinginan untuk menikah hanya karena keharusan saja. Selain itu dia ingin melindungi saudara kembarnya. Setelah segalanya terungkap pun masalah tidak berhenti begitu saja karena Juliet tidak mau menikah dengan Sebastian kalau pria itu tidak mengakui perbuatanya juga pada Griff dan keluarganya yang lain. Sebastian awalnya tidak mau namun berubah pikiran di belakang sementara Juliet malah akhirnya meminta Sebastian tidak usah mengaku saja. Nah lho? Kok labil begini ya? Alhasil setelah separuh buku lebih keduanya masih saja meperdebatkan hal yang sama, aku merasa capek dan luar biasa bosan sampai membutuhkan waktu lebih lama untuk menyelesaikannya*yawn*

Keberadaan Rosalind dan Griff sebagai tokoh pemdamping pun tidak cukup menolong. Perdebatan keduanya terasa kurang cerdas walaupun isu keterlambatan mempunyai anak setelah pernikahan yang cukup lama merupakan isu yang sangat sensitif hingga saat ini, namun perilaku Griff yang pemarah dan penuh emosi membuatku sebal padanya.

Pada akhirnya setelah membaca buku ini, hanya satu kalimat untuk pasangan Sebastian-Juliet: keduanya tidak mau rugi secara fisik walaupun terus tarik ulur berkepanjangan pada satu hal yang itu-itu saja*sigh*(less)

My favorite so far of this series, but not the best series Jeffries has written. I loved the cat and mouse game Juliet and Sebastian play as she tries to get him to admit he really is her kidnapper. The side story of Griff and Rosalind was good, but I was disappointed that Helena and Daniel were nowhere to be found in this book. I also realize I will now have to read the Lord trilogy next since The Pirate Lord is referenced several times in this book. You could read this standalone, but it is be...more

Sebenarnya ini hanyalah taktik Juliet untuk membuka kedok Sebastian.

Griff sempat cemburu karena kedekatan Rosalind dan sebastian. Ini dikarenakan tujuan Rosalind yg ingin menjodohkan Juliet dengan Sebastian. Belum lagi sandiwara Rosalind-Sebastian-Juliet untuk menutupi aktivitas Rosalind yg berusaha keras untuk hamil dengan bantuan "orang pintar". Rosalind takut Griff akan menolak cara cara aneh yg dianjurkan.

Sebastian yg berkarakter baik dan bertanggung jawab sebenarnya ingin mengungkapkan kebenaran bahwa dirinya yg telah menculik Juliet, tapi karena kewajibannya untuk menemukan saudaranya terlebih dahulu ia harus bertahan untuk tidak berterus terang. Takut resiko akan terjadinya duel antara dirinya dengan Griff.

Saat Juliet menawarkan dirinya untuk dinikahi Sebastian dengan syarat Sebastian harus jujur kepada Juliet, Sebastian sangat senang sekali karena Juliet menawarkan solusi yang meringankan bagi Sebastian. Sebastian menceitakan semua kebenaran kepada Juliet tapi belum mau berterus terang dihadapan keluarga Juliet. Julietpun kecewa dan kembali ke London dengan niat menunggu keputusan Sebastian.

Setibanya di London, skandal mengenai Juliet semakin memanas. Penyebabnya tak lain adalah Duke Monfort yg pernah bertemu dengan Helena (baca buku ke2).Duke bejat ini ternyata punya niat yang tidak pantas terhadap Juliet.

Pada saat keadaan benar benar tak terkendali akhirnya Griff mengetahui kebnaran mengenai Sebastian. Duelpun tak dapat dihindari (inipun karena siasat Duke yang jahat). Tapi karena karakter Sebastian yang memang baik dan niat Juliet serta Rosalind yg teguh akhirnya kesalahpahaman dapat diselesaikan. Dan Duke Monfort dipermalukan dihadapan teman temannya.(less)

So i'm obsessively reading all of Jeffries's romances, no real reason just something fun to do, and they are all connected so characters that were the main plot movers in one become the minor stories in the next. This one, however, I just didn't like as much. I almost didn't finish it. I think it was the broken wheel of the girl's vendetta matched by the boy's lack of ... i don't know, just wasn't there whatever it was. I actually read this first, out of order in the series. I am glad I did. I was a wonderful book and you didn't need to read them in order to appreciate the story between the hero and heroine. I just went back to #1, "A Dangerous Love" and read it. Now I am on the next, "A Notorious Love", with Lady Helena and Daniel.

Lebih bagus dari buku 1 & 2 menurut gw. Waktunya lebih panjang jd ga terkesan bertele" kya buku 2 n pastinya ga seboring buku pertama, pokoknya buku 1 paling membosankan dibanding yg 2 n 3 ini. this was one of Jeffries books I just loved. I thought the way she wove this story off from the others in this series exceptional. The woman is believable, the scenes, funny, heartwarming, sad, and hot all wrapped into one. The hero is troubled, but by his own past/beliefs. It's a wonderful, read over book.

I really enjoyed the tension between the characters, and how each had to come to terms with their own goals and demons. A great illustration that a little honesty can go a long way, and that we as people can get caught up in noble intentions and lose sight of what is most important.

Pretty much all the motivations were implausible. It was readable, and had points of interest and humor (I really liked Uncle Lew), but not enough to warrant a re-read or to actually buy the book. A library choice if you want to make it through the series.

The first Swanlea's Spinster book I've read. Both the hero and heroine remind me of Daisy and Matthew from Lisa Kleypas's wallflower series. But I was expecting more dark and bitter from Sebastian, instead of cowardness and arrogance.

This series is a huge favourite of mine. Didn't stop reading until i finished them all.
This book is on Juliet and "Morgan" the guy who kidnapped her in the previous book. Loved it. Lots of twistw and turns. Fabulous.

Compared to most other romance authors I loved this book. However, compared to the other books that Sabrina Jeffries has written...I would not say that this is her best.

The plot was pleasant enough. It was a bit boring at times, but it has its moments. I was not enthralled by the characters.

I thought that the lovemaking scenes were actually invigorating. I was shocked, because I normally skip those parts in romance novels (they have a tendency to repeat the same scene over and over again). I fe...more
