Scottish Historical Romance 1820s
I read this book like... yesterday, so I don't remember exactly what it's about (character's names and such), but it was really good. No, but seriously, their names were.... hers started with a V and his name was Scottish. Let me go grab the book and jog my memory.
Venetia and Lachlan. Okay. So Lachlan (laird in 1822ish Scotland (Highlands)) is pissed off at Venetia's dad (who owns the land next door to his) because he borrowed like 40,000 lbs (*dies laughing* lbs??????!?!??!?!? SERIOUSL...more

I usually do not read Romance and this book reminded me why. It really is not my cup of tea. The story is your typical "boy-kidnaps-girl-then-girl-falls-for-kidnapper" story. Jeffries also tried to make it into some grand Scottish novel, but fell short. Granted, I have not read a whole lot of historical romances ( or regular romances) but the language used was too modern. Every now and then some typical Scottish slang was used, but on the whole, it was unbelievable. The characters were...more

It made my latest amazon delivery have free shipping, all right? It wasn't that bad, really. Venetia, once you get past the name, is a strong and interesting character, as is Lady Ross, whom I loved. Really, all the characters were pretty well drawn, with actual motives and drives and unique personalities. Not a weak woman in the bunch, which is always a plus. Lachlan was also flawed but fun.
And God help me, I know I will check in with other books in the series to see what happens between C...more

Fans of smutty Regency with brainy heroines
I was rather hoping for a dark and dangerous "enemies brought together by passion" kind of story (why do I like that sort of thing? Lord knows), but any tension or suspense quickly fizzles out in this pleasant but nonsensical book. Not that the characters aren't fun--Lady Venetia is a good, intelligent sort who takes control of her supposed kidnapping pretty early on. The trouble is, any actual dangers or consequences are airily waved away as the plot wraps itself up in a bow. Still, i...more

Yes, I read a trashy romance novel and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
And it was actually pretty good, as far as trashy romance novels go. (Unlike the trashy romance novel I got in a library sale grab bag for twenty-five cents. Said book was called My Seduction, and it did not feature one seduction. False advertising!!!)
The title is a bit cheesy, but the book is actually fun and not entirely predictable.

This story is about Highlander getting revenge on his enemy by kidnapping his daughter. The daughter quickly recognises him as someone she knows from her childhood. She knows that he will not really hurt her and turns the tables on him. Next thing you know, she is running him around ragged with the help of his mother (who does not approve of the kidnapping).

Classic kidnapping/revenge regency but very well done. The characters were interesting and the love scenes were hot.

Definitely a hot-blooded "lusty-busty" read. Nothing like a man in a kilt!

The hero is so cliched, but I can overlook that for now.
