Christian
Any book that can draw parallels between raising children and training warriors for battle only reinforces my own view that, in many ways, life is a battlefield. There is a lot of Christianity mixed in with the advice but that does not detract from Smith's overall messsages of being present for your kids, letting them experience loss and heartbreak now so that it strengthens them in the future to deal with greater challenges and to focus on character above performance.

I heard about this book from a Focus on the Family podcast that I was listening too. Loved it! It is filled with great ideas and worksheets to help parents not just protect their children from the world but prepare them to be the salt of the earth and a light unto the world. It talks about not just having "nice" kids but kids who have faith in Christ, who know who they are and how they can change the world, and who have character.
