Named for the ill-fated idea of limiting warfare to only Monday through Wednesday, Williams' book confronts many ideas about violence and encourages the Christian Church to overcome violence and strive for peace.

Beginning with the idea of violent fantasies, Williams then traces the ideas of warfare and non-violence and applies them to our modern setting. Originally published at the height of the

A wonderful diagnosis of the sources of violence in the modern world and an enlightening reflection on the nature of peace embodied and offered by Christ. Williams is sometimes accussed of lacking clarity in his prose - I suppose this is true at times, but I also think his writing contains a poetic or contemplative quality which can only be fully appreciated with a measure of sustained consideration or meditation.
