OKay, my husband already read this while I finished my last one and I can't wait to find out what all the chuckling was about! Plus he says Jacky gets worse and worse and he's concerned about my hero worship with her. Oh goody... I can't wait to devour this book!

I finished it! Once again, I couldn't put it down and although I want to scold her sometimes too, I love Jacky! I laugh right out loud while I read these books and I love that. Wouldn't this be a great movie series? I'd More...

One of the better books in the series. This book furthered the plot which was a little at a stand-still and yet kept the characters interesting. Jean Paul de Valdon was a very interesting character to watch as he grew from snobby aristocrat to intriguing lover. I also liked the reappearance of Randall Trevelyne. He added some underlying conflict between him and Jean Paul. I also liked that Jacky got to be back in a situation where she was in command of a battle unit of some sort. One thing I wou More...

Oh Jacky, your life is never calm. I can't believe I've spent the last weekend just reading about it. My poor kids haven't seen me and Ricky even knows who Jacky is since I reference her in my everyday conversations.
So, this book was great but not my favorite. I loved the first half, I mean, come on, Jared Joseph was in it. I liked the men on the boat with her and was interested with the plot. I think I could have done without all the fighting and spying in France. I think there we More...

This is the sixth book in this series and I think the funnest one so far. Jacky Faber is a hilarious character and I thought that she just gets better with each book. I also felt that you could see this series coming to an end -maybe? and I liked that.
These books are written for the young adult age but I'm not sure I agree with that. They are at times a bit grown up I feel. If you have teens that you might suggest these to, I would as a parent read them first and then decide.

Summary + Review (contains brief spoilers):

Faber Shipping, Worldwide, once again is in possession of a full ship, the Nancy B. Alsop, captain, Jacky Faber, who gets captured by a British Man-of-War for the umpteenth time in the series. Eventually, she finds herself in the grasp of the British Intelligence, for as her loyal friend and steward Higgins had predicted, they were in need of a female spy such as herself - someone rare, unanticipated by the enemy, crafty and clever. They send More...

As always, can't get enough of that Jacky! I loved the first half, the second half was only so-so for me. Since Katie did a review of all the possible love-interests for Jacky, I will do the same...since mine are slightly different than hers.and loving.

1. Jaimy...her betrothed. Who else chases her around the world and is always there for her? All the other men love her, but never hang in there forever.
2. Joseph Jared...I love his cockiness and it is well earned. :)

...I am so very hard on my friends

And so can be summarized another wondrous tale of Jacky Faber, Midshipman, Gentlewoman, oft-described-as whore but not true, and Lieutenant in the French army this time around.

You’d think that after so many novels I would tire of what basically boils down to Ms. Jacky Faber meeting folks, righting wrongs done unto her, turning several peoples worlds into a mad spin, and burying a friend… yet I never tire of it. Though I do find myself sha More...

Another wonderful Jacky Faber audio book--they make my 5 mile runs so enjoyable. Artemis Fowl is my favorite male character and Jacky Faber would have to be my favorite female. Yes, the stories are becoming less and less plausible (Jacky meeting Napoleon and acting as a messenger in his army). However, the stories are as enjoyable as ever and written in such a way to be almost believable.

This book gets four stars because Meyer manages to bring back one of my favorite characters fr More...

Another entertaining installment of the adventures of Bloody Jack. The series continues to have a pretty heavy focus on Jacky (when she wants to) protecting herself from the frequent and determined attempts at her virtue. Sometimes things get a little smutty for a YA title...but Jacky takes it all in good humor (after all, she wasn't raised up proper, something she states often) and continues on her merry way.

This episode features Jacky as a spy for the British Intelligence Agency. Sh More...

Oh I am SO Happy to be back with Jacky. I'm sad that this is the second to last book and happy that there is another one in the pipeline. I can't believe how much I enjoy this character. I feel like she is one of my friends and LOVE having her in the car with me when I am running around town. The audio reader is one hundred and ten percent AWESOME!

So, I would probably give this one 31/2 stars. It's not my favorite of the series, but there is always so much adventure that once I pick them up there just really isn't a place to put it down until I'm finished. This series is ridiculous and over the top and yet I'm still find myself excited to see Jacky squeeze her way out of another tight spot. She is such a girlie girl and the next moment cool, confident, and in control. Everything I secretly want to be. I can see why she made such and excel More...

I liked this book, because I like the Jacky Faber books, but I am ready for an end in the series. In was harder for me to be involved in the plot than in book 5, but it was a quicker read. I enjoyed the book, but it wasn't the best Bloody Jack book there. I think I'm ready for her to just hook up with Jaimey and be down with it. The book is about Jacky forced in to be a spy, and her adventures as a female spy, in some parts she is actually known to be a woman, and in other parts she is up to More...

Best book in the series!!!! I am reading this series all in a row directly after one another and I had just finished Mississippi Jack when I got My Bonny Light Horseman. To be honest now, I was disappointed in Mississippi Jack. At first. It got better in the end, but it wasn't my favorite Jacky adventure. I then got My Bonny Light Horseman a little worried if I would be dissapointed again. I was not! I loved it! This book had the most power behind it. More than once it made me cry during the mor More...

In order to save her friends as well as herself, Jacky is forced to travel to France as a spy. Well, to be blunt, she is supposed to sleep with high ranking officers in order to get information from them. Jacky, in her own way, deals with this problem. Not going to say whether she does or whether she doesn't.
Then she goes off to war as a messenger. She trains troops and gets caught in the middle of a huge battle as only she can do. She runs into old friends and makes new ones as only she c More...

Kaherine Kellgren has officially ruined audiobooks for me. She is absolutely amazing at it. The books come to life in my head as she reads it with many different accents for all the characters. She has such enthusiasm and even sings all the old sailor songs. I swear she's amazing. When this series is over I shall be quite sad to go back to the regular books with singular characters and narrators without enough ummph.

About 3/4 of the way through this one, I was thinking it was going to be the first time I have given a Bloody Jack book less than 4-stars. But, Jacky pulled me through with her ever-present insight, wit, and love of adventure. This installment is not the typcial Jacky joy-ride and perhaps that's why it took me a while to get into it. But, it ends with true grit and emotion and isn't that after all what Jacky Faber is all about? If this series ever ends and Jacky and Jamie go off to live happ More...

Jacky Faber's adventures continue. This time, it takes her to France where she is almost the victim of Madame Guillotine, becomes a British spy under duress, and is caught up in Napolean's war against the Prussian army where she meets L'Empereur himself. L.A. Meyer's plotting is fast-paced, intriguing, and his creativity in getting his heroine in and out of trouble is what makes this series very, very entertaining. A must-read for readers who enjoy adventure and romance, and writers who ever won More...

Life is good for Jacky Faber. Faber Shipping World Wide has managed to get off the ground. Jacky spends her time carting goods up and down the East coast of America, and counting down the days until she can see her betrothed, Jaimy Fletcher, again in England. Then her little ship is boarded by members of British intelligence who recognize her for who she really is, a young woman with a big bounty on her head for piracy. Is Jacky's freedom gone for good?

"My Bonny Light Horseman" by L.A. Meyer is the sixth book in the Bloody Jack series. It is the story of Mary “Jacky” Faber, originally an orphan in London, then a sailor on the HMS Dolphin, where she met her true love Jaimy Fletcher. In this book, she is captured by the British warship HMS Dauntless to be taken to England and hanged for her supposed crimes. However, that ship is captured by the French, and she soon finds herself in a French prison, where she must hide her true identity More...

Previously, Jacky Faber was a ship's boy, a pirate, a lady, a singer, a housekeeper, a horse racer, and a captain among other things. In the sixth Bloody Jack book, she becomes a prisoner (again!) and a courtesan, a spy, a dancer, and a messenger in Napoleon's army.

I was worried about this one. Whereas I loved the first three of this series, I hated numbers 4 and 5. Thankfully, there is a lot less of Jaimy in this one (he was getting on my nerves) and less singing and dancing an More...

Meyer, L.A. My Bonny Light Horseman: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, in Love and War, 448 pgs. Harcourt, Inc.; Language~PG-13, Sexual Content~PG-13; Violence~PG-13

Fans of Jacky Faber are rejoicing at her return. Jacky Faber is finally headed to England to see what awaits her . . . most likely the hangman’s noose. Unexpectedly, the ship she is on is captured by the French and Jacky is imprisoned and beheaded. . . . well, at least that is what the Briti More...

Why I read this: I just love this books, especially on audio and I've been meaning to reread these and catch up on the series.

Plot: Jacky is now a secret agent and infiltrates the French army to hopefully find some information. They tried to force her into becoming a lady spy by seducing men, but she wouldn't put up with it and disguised herself and forced them into letting her work by pretending to be a boy. Nothing Jacky does is easy and she finds herself devoted the men she has to More...

Once more, I am so glad I chose to listen to this series "before" reading. Katherine Kellgren just gets better and better in portraying Jacky Faber and all the other characters! In this book your taken to Paris and beyond. Jacky, once again wins hearts and enemies both. This story made me cry more than once, right along with heartily laughing out loud. I truly should despise Katherine Kellgren. For now, I find it most difficult to hear anyone else read a book - she is THAT good!
