Body Movers: 3 Men and a Body by Stephanie Bond
Contemporary Romance- January 1st, 2009
Rating 3 stars
Stephanie Bond’s latest series centers around the ideas of an average deck of cards.
Bond plots out Carlotta Wren as the Queen Her suitors are: the Jack, Cooper Craft a morgue employee; King, Peter Ashford wealthy widower; and Ace, Jack Terry, one balls-to-the-walls detective that are ware of each other's making one tightrope act. Supporting characters from the 8 of Clubs, Hollis Carver, 3 of Spad...more

Carlotta's men trouble seems to be taking over these books and is driving me nuts. I think it is because I sort of feel like Carlotta. There are times when I think that Jack is the best one for her, then he acts like a jackass, and I want him to go away. At times Peter seems like he would be better, especially with his words during the big trouble, but then I remember how fast he dropped her when she was 18. It seems like Carlotta got over that, but I haven't. Then there is Cooper, the only faul...more
*thud-thud-thud* That's me banging my head against the wall. Stephanie Bond's third installment in her "Body Movers" series has me wanting to smack every single character upside the head! Carlotta's man troubles -- *SMACK* -- Wesley's gambling and drug problems -- *SMACK* -- Jack's "I-really-like-you-but-it's-a-conflict-of-interest-to-see-you" -- *SMACK* -- Peter's "I've-finally-seen-the-light-and-want-to-marry-you" -- *DOUBLE SMACK* (for not being man-enough in the first place) -- Coop's too ni...more
Carlotta and her brother Wesley continue to weave a complicated web of intentional and unintentional deception with each other and with the people trying to help them.
Beginning exactly where the other book left off, Carlotta is home recuperating from her injuries, nursing an injured soul. Wesley is missing, kidnapped by the loan shark he tricked. Now both of them have more secrets and menance. Carolotta continues to keep three men on a string, moving back and forth into seduction and out again....more

First of all, let me say that I am being generous with the 2-star rating. You know how you've read reviews about Carlotta and Wesley being "too stupid to live"... They are. Abashedly so. Seriously --how many times is this woman going to butt her way into investigations before Jack arrests her? Seriously --he should have already!

The further into these books I get the less I like them. I have the next two in the series and I'll probably read them but honestly I'm asking myself if I should even bother.
Instead of a review of the book, let me give you a review of the characters.
Carlotta = Spineless. She's basically a doormat for the men in her life. She seems to like it.
Wesley = Selfish and self absorbed. He's sleeping with Liz, his lawyer who has also slept with his father. He doesn't seem to think there's anything weird a...more

I am hoping that there will be more character growth as the series continues. The book is funny and fits my summer reading agenda, but I'm starting to get annoyed by the love competition. I also want her to take the giant V for Victim off her forehead and tell the police she'll sue them for harassment and invasion of privacy. (view spoiler)...more
Carlotta Wren cannot stay out of trouble. When we last saw her she was falling from a balcony at an Elton john concert. Now with her arm in a cast and on leave from Neman Marcus she has nothing to do. Coop invites her on a vacation/body pick up in Florida. They are on a super secret trip to pick up Kiki Deerling, Atlanta diamond heiress. Of course if Carlotta is involved nothing can be easy. After 2 attempts by body snatchers, Carlotta believes that the death of the 21 year old may not be natura...more
Dear Carlotta and Wesley. Both of you have acknowledged to yourselves that you are horrible at making a good decision. By my count, about one out of every five major decisions you make is a good one. And the other four, doozies. Particularly, you, Wesley. O.o

I just finished this one and I LOVE Cooper. Why hasn't she figured out how terrific he is??? I know he isn't rich like Peter, or flashy like Jack and yes he is a recovering alcoholic-but he hasn't had a drink in years, he notices the small stuff, he is always there-she is KILLING me!!! I am also hugely disenchanted with her father. And Liz the lawyer is a snake. Lots of great characters, well enough developed to form definite opinions-Chance???Oh my gosh, he fell off the loser truck! Wesley-the...more
Body Movers: 3 Men and a Body is a moderate, enjoyable, somewhat-mystery read. It was entertaining and you can easily get sucked up in reading it. It wasn't fast-paced but I didn't take forever to finish it. If you want to take a load off with a non-serious book, this is it. It's well-written with a nice plot, easy storyline that is very consuming and real, memorable characters. They get better as you read one after the other. You don't necessarily have to read them in order since some instances...more
This one was def not the best one. I really was mad at Carlotta most of the book, thinking WHY are you getting yourself into this mess for no reason? At least the last two cases involved you. Also, I hope she has health insurance all that time she is spending In the er.
I don't know what to make of Wesley's newest addiction or the fact that he is ok doing his fathers mistress because he reminds her of his father?!? And how is it all these dumb decisions are not catching up with him? Like leavin...more

I like this series but sometimes Carlotta Wren gets on my nerves. She's got three men dangling on the hook and IMHO two of the three aren't worthy. So what's the dilemma? Detective Jack Terry is hunting her runaway (from justice) father and plans to have him incarcerated. What's the attraction here? Peter Ashford, her high school boyfriend/fiance, dumped her like a hot potato when the charges against her father were announced. Hello! On the other hand, Dr. Cooper Craft is a wonderful man who is...more
Stephanie Bond's 'Body Movers' series is more of a romantic mystery than anything else. Bond has a great touch with adding humor to her stories, the mysteries are well-plotted, and there are ongoing and changing relationships (romantic and familial) that run throughout. There are currently six books in the series and the author's website says there may be more. These books made me laugh and made me sigh and even get a little overheated in some spots. In some ways, this series reminds me of Evano...more
#3 Body Movers sexy mystery series
Definitely a read-in-order series for maximum enjoyment
Carlotta Wren's adventures continue. She's off work from her sales job at Nieman Marcus while her arm heals, so she joins Cooper Craft on a trip to Florida for a VIP body pick up and some fun in the sun.
Her ne'er do well 19 year old brother Wesley tags along, as he's once again eluding an irate loan shark. Wesley's chaotic life and adventures continue *L*. Wesley's vices get him into a string of hair-raisin...more

Carlotta is recovering from her near-death tumble from a balcony, which coincides with her suspension from her job at Neimans, when Cooper Craft asks her to go along on a body retrieval in Florida. Carlotta has ulterior motives for wanting to go, so she readily accepts the offer. Coop's plans for a somewhat romantic time are rapidly thwarted when one problem after another crop up. No matter where Carlotta goes, trouble seems to find her!
A celebrity dies a mysterious death and Coop with the help of Carlotta go to pick up her body. Carlotta who is still out of work from her last mishap, investigates the celebrity's death as well as her father's disappearance. She still is torn between the three men in her life, Jack, Coop and Peter. She feels this will give her time to get to know Coop, but she ends up shying away because she doesn't want to hurt his feelings and she can't make up her mind. Then Peter is still holding an engageme...more
Well, Carlotta sort of chooses a guy, but I don't agree with her reasoning.
I still wanted to smack her and her brother. Really, why can't they learn from their mistakes?
If I continue with the series, it will be because I like Coop and Jack, and I want to know how their lives turn out. I'll gladly take both of them since Carlotta is so wishy-washy.

I almost didn't take this book from the library because of the line on the front "A Sexy Mystery" Huh? I decided to see what this tag line meant. Sex was there, but no more than in most contemporary novels, in actuality the overwhelming focus of this title was the mystery.

Very well written overall and the pacing moved along great. This book picks up right where Book 2 left off, so it's not stand alone and you really do need to read the first two. My only problem has been there's too much time between these books! At the end of this one it does say that Books 4, 5 and 6 will be released back to back in 2009. So this one felt more like a filler and in between book to set up the father's story and more to come. I have to admit that I'm a Jack fan and want her to end...more
This book flew by quickly and was and enjoyable read. The series seems to be leading to a good climax and each story can be read individually but best read in series. The book is a bit light and not overly taxing, which is probably why it went quickly. I'm enjoying the series and interested to see how it all pans out - so far up to book three and between them it's only been 2 weeks in the storyline, but I think if some of the major plot lines regarding her father don't resolve or take a new dire...more
This is the first book in this series I've read and it was pretty good so I'll probably try to go back and read the first two in the series. It's about a girl and her brother who are abandoned by their parents when their father is accused of stealing money. It is a good mystery/romance combo and is based in Atlanta. A good beach book!
All I can say is Wow, really liked this story. Carlotta is having a run of bad luck, beginning with her parents.
But boy this lady has more men intrested in her than well anyone. Still book kept me intrested all the way to the end. I cannot wait for the next in the series, too bad it is not until april.

Carlotta Wren needs a vacation from her life so when hunky Cooper Craft invites her to ride with him to Florida for some fun in the sun and a VIP body pickup, it seems like the perfect opportunity until her brother, Wesley, eludes an irate loan shark & tags along. Then it's one thing after another. It's another twist at the end and nothing like I figured. Enjoyed the book very much. Quick read & some funny parts.
3 Men And A Body picks up with Wesley in serious trouble with The Carver (a major Atlanta thug). The plot thickens as Carlotta tries to decide between Paul, Coop and Jack. The three men who are courting her. Good characters, well written book. If you have not read any of the Body Mover books, start with the first book and you will be hooked.
I am enjoying this light mystery series in both Kindle format and audiobook (the narrator is excellent). While the characters are flawed they are also likable and realistic and the scenarios they get themselves into are quirky, funny, exciting and sometimes dangerous. Overall, I'm entertained by this series and recommend checking it out.
