I'm a little biased here, since I'm currently rather obsessed with Alaska, so the content was all fascinating. The book is a mix of essays, poetry, non-fiction excerpts, and a bit of fiction. Many of the pieces are a bit slow, overly descriptive, or stylistically clunky, but what they say...unique.

My favorites:

"Ordinary Wolves" excerpt by Seth Kantner, about a white boy livng in the bush, dreaming of becoming Eskimo.

Sherry Simpson's excerpt from "A Man Made Cold by the Universe." It deals with
